got my SC100 through yesterday and am yet to try it.

Does anyone know how these systems work with range balls? will it take into account the fact the ball goes 20% shorter?

I've been using mine at the range regularly for the last month or so and the yardages it gives seems to be accurate as to what I'd expect from a non-range ball.

as this isn't a fact I would hope not!

balls used at ranges vary significantly and may, or may not, have been purchased in a reduced carry version.

Just use of language, saying its 20% by any stretch of the imagination. was just picking a random figure.

While not all Range Balls are 'reduced carry' ones, it may be a fact that the ones at the OP's range are!

As for the question..Yes. Just check the Mark Crossfield vids when he has Trackman analysis. The balls he uses are reduced carry ones - to keep the neighbours happy.

basically you will have to 'calibrate' each and any range balls you use with the unit - and then apply them manually to your stats if required.

it will give you what's happening with the balls you are using - it has no concept of whether it's the ball, or the strike. that's giving rise to the data you are getting.

If your really worried, i guess you could buy a box of grade B lake balls cheaply and do a range ball / real ball back to back analysis / calibration?

Went to the range a couple of hours ago, and can confirm that the SC100 is very accurate (for the money i paid for it). I lasered a number of flags and hit balls towards that, when hitting it close, the distance on the SC100 was almost identical to the distance i measured to the flag.

good bit of kit
