Don't you love terrible range sessions that knock your confidence?

:(

Been using the bottle/headcover/sponge drill that bob recommended to try and get rid of the loop/out-to-in swing. Don't think I hit one decent ball out of about 150.

I'm hoping this is because I'm being forced not to come over the top and I need to bed the swing in, but I'm not looking forward to playing on Saturday now!

Ho-hum. Must persevere.

I about

was at the DR yesterday

I was watching this guy yesterday at the driving range
and he never missed a beat, from the moment he came in ,he
was stretching,limbering up,plus,he hit the ball well,made
me feel ashamed of the last 3 baskets I had used, must be
the mind set..

I hear you Aztecs, the other night....

1) Forgot glove
2) Forgot golf shoes
3) Freezing cold
4) Thinned the first 12 balls
5) Did something to my hand....that hurts now
6) Sprayed the ball left and right
7) Gave up after 40 balls

Confidence in tatters.......

Went to the range. Irons very good but can't hit a drive if my life (or FJ shoe collection) depended on it. Way too quick and too long with my swing and when I tried to slow and shorten it everything went out of synch and was even worse. If I can get it in play then I am very close to a good score coming soon.

I don't let stuff like this get to me usually, so I should be O.K. It's just disheartening as I can strike the ball lovely with my loopy out to in swing, but it's directionally impaired! :D

I am just ignoring it as an off day. Probably not helped by starting to go to the gym again. Ache all over.

I'm thinking that might have contributed to my bad session last night.

Went to the gym for the first time in forever on Tuesday night and did a pretty intense chest/triceps session and was aching/stiff yesterday (and today). So my swing might have been a bit "tight".

Don't rush the transition. If you do, you will throw out to in.
Give your body time at the top of the backswing to get into the new shape it needs to be to swing in to out :)

Duly noted Obi Wan. :) :D

I had a terrible range session once, 2001 it was. Hit one ball a bit thin.

Luckily hasn't happened since. :o :D

You mean you've never been back since?  ;)

It's still fresh in the memory Bob, I am having therapy, I can still feel my hands ringing from that thin. :( :D

I'm sure Bob will correct me if I'm wrong.

I had a lesson the other day and have always been prone to a slight over the top move, mainly because I dont use my legs much in the swing (due to injuries). Therefore my downswing starts from the top instead of from the ground up and, on the bad swings, I have a tendancy to slice.

We worked on an inward move of the right knee (toward the left knee) at the start of the downswing and, hey presto, in to in swing path and a better quality of strike with gentle draw and a fair bit more club lag. The knee move stopped the OTT in one go!

Might be worth a try
