Played a friendly round with some mates and on the 10th tee one of my friends gets his new G30 Ping driver out and absolutely nails it. On Game Golf later it registers a distance of 310 yards and his new "longest drive" by 30 odd yards. He's pretty chuffed to say the least.

On the 11th I ask if I can have a go and yep, you guessed it straight down the middle for my longest drive recorded on Game Golf at my home club of 258 yards.

Now I'm probably going to go and buy one. I should have just left it alone :)

If you buy one, it wont be the same. They never are. Its like seeing a fit girl in a club, having a cracking night out and the best loving of your life. Ask her to move in, and she never puts out any more, makes zero effort, stops you playing golf and hates all your mates.

Defo what Rooter says. The G30 will stop you going out with your mates. This isn't helping my current driver thoughts woody lol

I was in the same situation. I hit mates G30 and banged it straight down the middle. Wow, I thought I'd found a fix to my fade off the tee. Managed to convince the missus to fund the new driver and happily trotted off to AG to hit a few and purchase said club.

Well, I couldn't hit it for toffee, tried all three set ups, couldn't even hit the G30 SF without fading it. So in the end never bothered. Still playing with the 909, still playing the fade but God, I'm enjoying myself.

I have a G20. I tried my neighbours G30 and promptly gave it straight back to him... along with an invoice for my Pro V1 that I just hit into the farmers field adjacent to the fairway!

Buy it. I traded in the SLDR for the G30. And it's fantastic. When I hit my best shots its miles past my best SLDR Drives and when I hit my worst G30 drives it's as good as the SLDR normal drives.

I've had something similar happen just recently which is indirectly related.

My Titleist 910f 4 wood was looking a bit tatty as I'd had it from new in 2012.

Decided to replace it with an (.... Used but like new) Callaway Optiforce 3 wood that was being sold by Region3 on here.

The thing is an absolute weapon!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with my 910D2 at all. Still looks like new despite regular use, goes really well. Yet I can't help fighting the temptation to try the Callaway Optiforce driver to see if it's as good as the 3 wood :D

I did the same went into chart hills golf club if any of you have played there. Seen a putter a oddosey 2 ball putter and asked if I could use it for the round £100 it was. Played the first had a monster putt was like 40-50 foot away with a swing on the putt. Got the putter out bang straight in the hole. Didn't matter what I did after that finished the round straight into the pro shop brought and in the bag that was probably 14 years ago now and is still the only putter I've used never changed to another one.

Noooo!!

Keep repeating, my SLDR is fine my SLDR is fine.
