We were having a discussion last night about what to look at when putting.
I was told to look at the ball.
My pp was taught to line it up and watch the blade move back and through.
Jordan Spieth looks at the hole on the shorter ones.
I have read an instruction on staring at a spot just in front of the ball.
We tried a few on the practice green last night.
Any other suggestions or tips?

Another alternative. Leave a small gap between putter and ball and focus on a bit of grass in the gap. It stops me looking up too quickly.

I actually follow the leading edge of the putter with my eyes.

Nothing else moves, just my eyes.

Not conventional I know but it works for me.

David Howell taught me to look at the spot on the floor right behind the ball. In between the back of the ball and the putter face at address.. Works for me! (and him!)

Really like this tip. Tried it last night. Line it up, keep the line in my peripheral vision but focus on the bit of grass between putter and ball as I take the club back and through.

I tend to focus on the back of the ball whilst making my stroke.....

I then tend to look skywards and mutter something along the lines of "you w@nker" and pull a funny, stretchy kinda face and grit my teeth.

This is an interesting question, I asked the same thing to a few friends lately as I had a period where I would start to look at the putter blade to ensure I took it back on the right path and then switched to the ball mid stroke....this did not work! but on occasions this creeps in and add a few shots :(

Most people I've asked say they looked at the ball on short putts, but I'd definitely play about with looking at the hole on short ones, I found it surprisingly reliable and quite liberating!
