It's that time of year again for my car insurance renewal and an increase of over 20% on last years price.
Barstewards.

A quick phonecall later and got it down to 5% cheaper than last year AND a years AA membership thrown in.

So dont just pay up.......... ask and thou may receive :)

It's been a long time since I used the same insurance company for anything for more than a year. Switching saves a lot.

Ive used the same insurer for the last few years.

they send me a renewal with and increase, i call them and say i will stay on the same price, they say they can't hold the price. So i then go online and get a better deal than i had before with the same company.

Have done this the last 3 years.

I switch a lot. The companies don't seem to be that keen on matching deals either. That's a success story. At what point though do we hit the bottom teir? We can't get it cheaper every year to the point where it's free lol. My good lady doens't seemt to get any lower than about £170 a year for hers, no matter where she goes.

I have had my renewal through. I received a quote at the same as last year. Went through comparison sites, reduced voluntary excess & hope for the best.

My insurer came back & was lowest quote, & only £3 a year more than my renewal at the higher excess. Called them, explained it & they have agreed to renew at the lower excess & slightly higher premium.

I have full breakdown cover with them too & with paying monthly, I am paying a total of £300 a year.

For those not in the know, IPT (insurance premium tax) rises from 6% to 9.5% in November 2015. If you can, get all your insurance in place now!

Just had our renewal through.

£540 for the year (multicar) which is around £200 more than last year.

I'll be calling them when I get back to the UK for a requote.

I'll also shop round.

If they can't beat my best price, I'll move. Simple as that.
