My two year old absolutely loves Rory and the theme song which goes something like 'Rory the racing car, Rory the #1 star'. (too much Cbeebies)

With Rory, I am now aligned with my son. Did too much success go to his head too soon. I am sure he has the talent, just dont see the mental side of things. A bit like Fowler

St Luke... he may be 'boring', but he is indeed a silent assassin. Watching him in his Mizuno masterclass, shows his maturity and humbleness.

I think the whole #1 ranking is shambolic. They are on different planets and have daylight between them.

Who will rule?

i think donald is more consistent, but does he bottle it in majors?

but on his day, rory can be capable of something special. expectations of rory have been so high, people are saying he hasnt done too well since the us open, but his record since then is extremely good.

In my most humble opinion:
In the short term I think Rory runs too hot & cold to dominate. But in a few years, should he continue to be up there, he will be the number 1 for a long while.
For now, Donald seems so comfortable in doing well week in week out that he will continue to rack up points and keep the no 1 jersey warm.

However, the fact that they don't seem to often play the same tournaments the no1 will probably keep bouncing between them.

I think its boring now! Every sunday night, I get home to read on my BBC News app that Rory is number 1, and then luke, and then Rory...*yawwwwn*

Indeed.... I think Rory's game is more suited stateside.. and he has lost his mojo on the correct side of the pond.

I am sure Luke will get his Major this year, that would lift a heavy burden of him. I suppose we are still to see the best of him. As long as he sticks to his natural game, he would do well.

When asked about the tussle for #1 during his BBC interview, he summed it up well, 'as long as he plays well, the #1 will come as a result'. Whereas Rory seems too focused on the rankings.

Sorry, if I am sounding too harsh on Rory.. but it would be a travesty if he does not get his act together. He is also the only guy after Tiger who can pull in the crowds and drive TV ratings. Come on Rory..

Rory still wears nappies at night. When he's a big boy and starts wearing long trousers, then you'll see a genius. The next player who can potentially take this game on to new highs, like Nicklaus and Tiger before him

But until then, I'm more than happy to see Luke getting stronger and stronger. A brilliant, brilliant player who deserves to be lauded as the best we've seen from these shores since Faldo (IMHO).

As opposed to Tiger Woods sitting up there unchallenged for as long as he did?! That was exciting!

Surely the fact that the number one spot is frequently changing hands is more interesting?

In terms of who will rule, I personally have a massive amount of admiration for Luke and hope he gets a major under his belt. He's clearly put the work in and hasn't changed his game to keep up with the big hitters. His consistency and attitude are second to none and I would happily watch his swing all day. His short game is proof enough that you don't have to hit the beans out of the ball off the tee to score well.

Think the girl friend may have gone to Rory head a bit he was in Paris a couple of hours after missing the cut this week to see her. At his age he should be well able to play 30 plus tounaments a year not the 23/4 he is playing this year so he can have time with the girlfriend. As good as he is he still needs to put the time in on the range and short game area.
Luke the cash machine need to win a major or even contend( i can't recall him being in the last couple of groups for any major) this year.

cant blame him for getting a high profile girl friend... It is the same story elsewhere.

Get to #1, get a high profile girlfriend, loose form, struggle with a few wins, blame everyone else.. Hamilton comes to mind.

Rory is a flair/streak (whatever the correct word is) player, I mean when he is confident and swinging well he can do almost anything to that ball and could be unstoppable, Master Luke is technically brilliant and a course strategist as well as a putting God. Luke will continue to be Mr consistent and very reliable...............as long as it doesnt blow too hard.........

Donald all the way for me, don't get me wrong Rory is a great talent and is fantastic to watch both when he is on form and the days when he collapses.Just as a player I think Donald knows how to score and keep it together even on the days he is not playing his best. His swing is magnificent to watch. The way he played the last 2 holes Sunday within his self and making sure he made no mistakes. Both par 5s played as 3 shots. Great course management which many amateurs could learn from.
