Do you think that Donald Trumps course in Aberdeen should have been built or not? Considering the fact that it was built on a site of special scientific interest. Thanks

Watched the program about it all and he certainly seemed to bully his way through everyone

Think the guy is an utter tool who has tried to manufacture a legendary links course but those are built through history. Hope it never gets the Open

And then he had the cheek to moan when another development, an offshore wind farm, was proposed near to his golf course!

Do we have to do this thread again?
As an Aberdonian I can assure you 99% were behind the development, secondly the programme was utter one sided trash, thirdly who had actually been to the sight before they started to complain? I can tell you it was a bleak place people passed through to get to the beach.the dune system still exists,no wildlife is affected and the area is massively enhanced.
The wind farm proposal is just stupid as it's in a busy shipping area for North Sea traffic.
So in short yes it's great that it was built and it's a beaut of an addition to an area already teaming with great courses.

Yes, I'm glad it was built. It looks like it's a magnificent course.
Pity about the " portocabin " style clubhouse though.

Don't think the birds and the bees give a monkey's that people are playing golf nearby.

An as for that eyesore that the berm was built around, thank god that can't be seen.

The real SSSI is up the way at Newburgh on Ythan. You're not even allowed to walk on the dunes there. Cracking little course there too.

in regards to trumps course I'm in favor of it, yeah he got it cause he has cash but he's built a course that people love to play. I haven't had the chance to play there yet but hopefully will for my birthday!

If it was anybody else that built the same course there would this thread exist?

I think, SEPA, SNH, The RSPB and the Aberdeenshire council were against it, prob still are. Wiggy buttered up fatty, but i bet if it was to be planned now the Scottish Gov wouldn't be calling it in;)

Aberdeen council couldn't arrange a piss up in a brewery! Just look at the mess they have made of the bypass and the haudigan roundabout, if they had not messed up the vote this thread would have never existed. The councillors are supposed to represent the people, they clearly did not in this instance, purely voted for to further their careers not for what the majority wanted.

Also my home track. Lovely course too.

As for trump, not played it, wanted it built, hopefully get a few more yanks playing Newburgh.

I loved the back 9 at Newburgh , the front not so much. I don't think you would find two more contrasting 9 s on a course .

Yeah very contrasting. I prefer the front to the back but score better coming back. It's starting back with 6 par 4's that annoys me. More variety on the front 9. 18 is one of the best holes in the area.

I've just had a look on the Trump International Golf Links website and notice that the course is completely closed for the Winter, not re-opening until April 1st (appropriate date). Also their best rate is an eye watering £320 for one round of golf and one nights B&B per person. Many Scottish Golf Clubs don't charge that for a year's membership, and I bet they are still mostly open, even if on temporary greens!
