Just been over to the Todays Golfer site (don't ask but trying to do a good deed for a mate) and I have to say we must be doing something right on here. In their general section where I presume they talk about all things golf, there isa guy trying to get a society day to meet other forum members up and running. Only 12 odd hits so far and no responses. How many forum meets big and small have we had and got planned in 2009.

There is a GPS thread with 68 views and 3 replies. If they must copy our lead then you'd think they would actually want to discuss the topic.

Keep up the good work fellow forummers. We clearly lead and others follow. I won't be registering although it is tempting to see if we can recruit some into a proper forum!!! I couldn't help find what I was looking for either. Not a user friendly site

Todays Golfer ! Hommer I am surprised and more than a little dissapointed in you !

Just wait till MikeH reads that. You'll be cast out into the darkness.... Forever! :(

It does just show that there is a big difference in what we have from a quality magazine and what other 'also rans' are providing for their readers / forum users. :D

Hello all.

Have just discovered this site and have to say that it is far superior, in terms of input from the users, than Todays Golfer or The Social Golfer etc, where topics seem to move at glacial pace.

I hope to be able to join in the banter here on a regular basis. :D

Cheers,

Derek.

I hope Mike will forgive me and that I did it with good intent to help a mate. He was looking for a specific swing drill to help cure body movement when he putts and he told me it was on the TG website but like Dave (realgolfer) he is having PC problems. I was going to find the link and mail it but I couldn't find anything

If I am banished into the cyber darkness it has been fun!!! :o

Welcome DelB,I see you are a member at Swanston, passed it many many times and always wondered if it is worthwhile and is your Pro Jamie Brown or is he at Torphin? He used to play at Goswick with me and was one of the longest hitters of a golf ball I've ever seen!!

Ah what the hell. Never seen a forum like that, how crap.

Welcome BTW derick. Enjoy the forum.

Derek,

Welcome to the best golf forum in the whole of the interweb thingy. Trust me things move a lot quicker on here especially if you use the two magic phrases (custom fitting and GPS). Having lit the blue touchpaper I am going to retire to a safe distance!!!

Tony

I don't think there would be any mileage in spamming anyway. It seems that the site is so disjointed you would only get a fragmented response. Probably best not to cause any inter-site animosity and just bask in our reflected glory.

Mike, give Homer a job will ya, for goodness sake?!

Old Windy,

I'm fine where I am in my nice hospital with subsidised restaurant (shepherds pie and mixed veg today £2.95) and with plenty of pretty nursing staff coming to see me at my desk and to look at as I wander around. Not sure the likes of Luke and Paul can compete!

I quite like the Golf Magic site"

had a look on there but there seemed to be some quite nasty arguments between members so just don't bother. Also much prefer our simple forum, can't stand all that sub forum this, sub forum that. It just means small groups talking on different subjects at a given time.

Thanks all for the warm welcome. :o

To answer a couple of questions, Swanston is undergoing a major revamp at the moment, having recently had a new £1M clubhouse opened, a 9 hole short course added, a driving range, practice greens and bunkers and six new holes on the lower ground adjacent to the bypass which open for play in March. This will negate the need to rope yourself to your fellow players to get up the hill to play the present holes at the top!! ;)

Our pros are Ian and Gareth Wright who, I think, are actually based at West Linton, but cover quite a few other courses too.

If anyone fancies a game on the course, I'd be only too happy to oblige.

Cheers,

Derek.

Go GM!!!

Talking of TG....has anyone got the jan 09 issue (4th dec-29 dec)?

Can someone look at page 29 and the big picture no.5 about left hand hinge please....

I'm confused about the arrow pointing at the RIGHT wrist? some mistake???
