I was playing reasonable well in a Seniors Bogey-Par competition, which was unusually played off the Yellow Tees, this morning. After the 17th hole, both my Fellow Competitor and myself walked to the nearby White tee and played from there. Then realised that we should have played from the Yellow tee, which is 50 yards away. Instant 2-shot penalty and we had to re-tee from the correct tee. My FC managed a 5 with his 2nd ball that with a stroke at this par-4 hole earned him a half, but I only only managed a 6 (4 with the 2nd ball), which was a loss. Cost me a voucher for 3rd place in the comp and I missed the buffer zone by 1, so 0.1 on my handicap. Grr!!! :(

Didn't I see recently on the GM website an article about exactly this scenario where there is no penalty and you have to replay your shot from the correct tees? I'm sure they posted something about it on there Twitter feed.

EDIT - just checked the article and it's only in Match Play that there is no penalty but your opponent can ask you to replay the shot. 2 shot penalty in Stroke Play.

Unfortunately, although you are playing against the course, Bogey-Par is a form of stroke play! :(

What a twenty four carat gold plonker Rodders. Not sure what's more annoying, missing out on the cut or the voucher. Tough luck and a mistake I doubt you'll make again soon

You been watching only fools reruns? Second or third dellboy quote I've noticed.

Actually it's the 2nd time I've missed out on a prize through playing off a wrong tee, although it was at the 11th hole that time. I've also lost out though playing a wrong ball and signing for an incorrect score. That was when I actually scored a 4 for 3 points (with a stroke) at our par-4 18th hole in a Stableford, but my marker for some reason entered it as 5 for 3. I checked the card and because the points added up correctly I signed it. The scorer later corrected this to 5 for 2 points and I missed winning a comp by one point. If I had signed for a lower gross score I would have been DQ'd. You really can't be too careful!

Playing in one of the big comps at our place last month, I stood on the 18th needing a par for the victory. Cut a long story short I ended up playing the wrong ball on my 2nd shot and cost myself a potential win 😐😐

Still got a little cut, but not as much as I wanted!!

Hopefully I'll learn from this....and at 25 I can't really blame it on a senior moment haha!
