Where I live the closest two ranges to me close at 5.00pm and dusk in winter even though they are floodlit .The only one open in the evening which closes at 9.00pm is twice the distance.why on earth in this day and age with the golf industry struggling do they close so early? This has been discussed at my club many times so the trades there if they want it, madness

The range I go to opens at 7am and closes at 12am, open everyday of the year except Christmas.

So to answer your question, no.

8.30 on weekdays and 6 at weekends and during season it closes at 9 all through the week but at £6.80 for 100 balls it is expensive and never full. It is attached to a company managed course.

Liverpool driving range has had a big refurb. this time last year it was on its knees. poor facilities and no one there. its bunged these days.

pro shop and short game area in come!

Once you need the floodlights on, the energy costs alone become a major factor. You need the same amount of lighting and therefore energy cost for a single golfer as you do for a full range. If it's a quiet rnge anyway, then it just doesn't stack up I'm afraid.

our range is lights out at 10pm everynight..... but the pro shop (the only place you can buy tokens for the range) closes at 4!

My nearest driving range is 5 miles away from me and is open from 9am to 7pm during the week and 8am to 4pm at weekends. It's attached to a course and the times I've seen it busy are when guys are warming up before their round.

It's floodlit but on the odd occasion I've been there with the lights on it seems virtually empty - so I'd agree that extending the hours probably wouldn't be cost effective.

It's £3 for 50 balls

My course has a 280 yard range that is only governed by light - but it is a pick your own balls up job. Other than that I use World of Golf at Clydebank, not cheap but it is heated and lit.

Our range is controlled by daylight, and as i said somewhere else if you work weekdays you might as well forget about the range from October to March. Would love either floodlights or a ball dispenser but the junior groups keep the pros happy(and well paid) so no change forthcoming

I live right at the back of a driving range, this one http://www.cranfordgolfcentre.co.uk/
The opening hours are pretty good but they've been struggling with finances for a while and are hoping to build houses on the car park which alot of locals aren't happy with. Must cost a fair whack lighting a place like that over winter, and the balls and mats are bobbins I hardly ever use it.

Looks like a decent place to me...

+1, bit farther away but I'll use sometimes

I have two driving ranges both about the same distance from my house but in opposite directions. One's at China Fleet GC and that's open from 07.30 until 6pm, 7.30pm, or 8.30pm (depending on what day of the week it is). The other one is Plymouth Golf Centre which is open until 10pm all week but that one's got far better floodlighting.

I consider that each has its advantages so I tend to flit between the two.

I have three ranges within 15 minutes of my new house so spoilt for choice and all are established and open until at least 8.00 every night. I tend to go straight from work so last orders at the range isn't an issue

The range I use closes at 9.30pm (Mon-Thu), 8.30pm Friday, 6.00pm Saturday anf 5.30pm Sunday.

Suits me as I only tend to use the place in the week.

Ours is open till 10 and has several heated bays. at 5.50 for 100 balls it can add up quite quickly if you want to use it a lot. They have just re done each bay with true strike matts. I'd have to say i prefer the old astro turf style ones.
