and obviously mister if your a mrs , under no other circumstances is acceptable!
Any way

is the other any good? better than you???
My mrs hates golf thank god cos it gives me time to get away from her!!

Mine tried golf, and hits the ball miles, but is not interested. Tennis is her bag, so we both go off and do our own thing. Works for me..

I took my Mrs to the driving range to try hitting a few balls. She got up and stood next the ball, ignored all the advice i had given her earlier, arms like spaghetti and hit the ball 3ins. Sat down never to lift a club in anger again.

Shame really becuase i would have liked to play a few rounds with her (every six months or so!).

my missus has absolutely no interest in golf whatsoever and thinks im a total saddo for talking about it all the time and also for coming on this forum.ian mc

Did suggest she try it, but my poor lass is not the most co-ordinated soul!

So I guess I can at least say I tryed to spend time with her next time she moans about me heading to range/course!

She does now. When on holiday, she would drive the buggy and hit the occasional shot, but what really got her interest was the Tiger Woods game on the Playstation; having mastered the 2004 and 2005 versions, she decided to try the real game and now thoroughly enjoys it.

My girlfriend is really interested in the game (thank God) but doesn't play (yet). Peter Alliss has always been her hero!

I'll often come home to find her watching some obscure tournamament on the telly.

"Who's winning, honey?"

"Och, it's rubbish. Goosen's still hooking. Monty's putting like a fanny and Mickelson's troosers are still at half mast."

I have taken her up to the range a few times and she can hit my wedge about 100 yards off the tee... in spite of my teaching.

She'd be good with lessons but I kinda worry she'd be too competetive, having played volleyball at international level. She'd probably want to "spike" her playing partners if she was having an off day.

I bought my other half a set years ago in an attempt to get her playing but alas they lie rotting at the back of the shed after one half hearted attempt at playing. Hard for us golfers to understand but some folks just hate golf.
Shame as I would love to do golf holidays but there's just no way it's ever going to happen so Portugal/South Carolina etc will have to wait. I get one game in a holiday week and am expected to be extremely grateful for that.

As you probably know, Mr. B is even more of a golf nut than me and plays off a bandit-like 15 to my 23. We started playing at the same time, and when childcare was no longer an issue, so no arguments there.
We enjoy what you might call friendly rivalry (?) and this year managed to compete as a team in the club doubles without (surprisingly) coming to blows. (Not sure if we'll do it again - I have had other offers!)
I occasionally blame him for my bad shots but he's getting used to it, and since he is my main golf coach/guru, it usually is his fault - obviously!

Mr wife had lessons and got a 2nd hand set of clubs. We booked a golfing holiday with another couple we knew at Ashbury Manor in Devon.

She drove the buggy on the first afternoon as she didn't fancy a game and played a few holes on the first full day. We went 10 pin bowling in the hotel in the evening and she overstepped onto the lane slipped and broke her arm and snapped a ligament.

A late night trip to Exeter General and an arm in plaster. She never played again. She does actively encourage me and asks how I got on etc. She will occassionally walk 9 holes on a summer evening for some exercise

I tried to get Mrs htl into the game by taking her to the driving range and giving her a wedge and a few balls, however, she was far more interested by the Starbucks hot chocolate and only hit about 5 before she declared she didn't know what all the fuss was about and couldn't understand what we talk about on the forum and why do we need magazines etc to tell us how to hit a ball!

As you can imagine it was a quiet car journey back home.

Her sport is Netball, and when I go watch I am far more interested by the bar and wide screen telly.

Works out fine.

Golf, for my wife, is a four letter word. She hates it with a passion that is unbridled. To say this makes things difficult is an understatement. Thing is that I do make a bit of money out of the game due to my Golf Caberet I do with three other actors. So she tolerates it.

However with another baby on the way I'm resigned to playing much less golf this year but will have a much happier wife.

Looks like I will be living vicariousely through your exploits on the forum... Oh woe is me.

oh yes

yes she does but it took three attempts to actually get her started. Nowadays she is making fast progress in narrowing the handicap gap between us.

My wife plays golf. I started he before we were married and she has played ever since. She's playing off 18 at the moment so makes a useful partner in the mixed foursomes. We tend to try and play in mixed foursomed opens if at all possible that way we can get to play other courses at very reasonable cost and get a good day out into the bargain. There are some times of the year where she even tends to play more golf than I do! Shocking.

Also,

My daughter has her name down for the Junior section, she may get in this year, but if not then it will be next year. She's keen enjoys going round on a nice day and also likes going to the range with me.

My missus doesnt mind me playing but hates me talking about or watching it. She was (until Hollie came along 4 years ago) very into keeping fit with thai kickboxing excercise though Im trying to get her back into it as she needs more interests outside the house since we had our second gorgeous daughter in july.

Brendy,

What's the course over your way that used to have the long tree lined par 6. Castle something if I remember right.

Played that with a couple of my uncles a few years ago.. interesting is the best word to describe it.

Lady Barbara likes to play on our local 9 hole par 3 course with me, our son and his wife. She enjoys it very much, although she is not a member of a Golf Club and doesn't have a handicap. I suppose the answer to you quiestion is yes - with qualififications.
