Here in Aylesbury, our council recently decided to start charging for the disposal of what are deemed non-household waste, and these charges apply to members of the public and not just tradesmen.
For example, you can take a wooden wardrobe and NOT be charged, whereas take a wooden fence panel and the charge is £2.50 per panel.
In fact, I heard that one guy cut his fence panel into 3 pieces for easy transportation and they wanted to charge him £7.50 - absolutely ridiculous!

Some others from the extensive list include:
- bricks / hardcore.......£2.50 per 25 litre bags
- toilet seat.................£2.50
- Radiator...................£2.50 (and I bet they then get some money selling on the scrap metal)

I'm expecting that fly tipping (which is already a problem) is going to increase significantly.

We moved from MK last year where everything was free to Christchurch where you have to pay for some items, mainly rubble, hardcore and plasterboard. Its actually dearer to dispose of a whole sheet of plasterboard (£10) than it is to buy one!

Soil and hardcore (includes sanitary ware) yes.

Metal, garden waste, paper etc no.

One of the other local tips in another town charges for everything.

The other nearby tip asks you to provide proof of address and if you are not a local resident then yes.

Yes for certain things, rubble, branches for example. I guess the types of things you should be ordering a skip for.

Yes, we do have fly tipping. No doubt there is a correlation.

We dont use the one in our council, and are not charged. They help get stuff out of the car, are helpful telling you with what goes where. Local dump is useless, and you have to climb ladders with all your rubbish to fill skips.

Currently no, but very soon Kent CC are bringing charging for everything taken to a refuse/recycling centre.
Of course fly-tipping won't increase, just like it didn't when they put height restriction barriers on all the entrances...... but then it's not them that has to pay for the clearing up.

Ours, very soon, is going to start charging for wood.
WOOD, for Christ's sake.
I'm sure everyone in our area is ripping their sheds down as we speak in case they'll need replacing in the next couple of years!
