Yes though not often enough and they tend to let them get too dry in the first place before they start imo. (we are limited to how much water we are allowed to use each yr I believe)

Was signs of a few having had a little sprinkle yesterday am but theres a need to get water on most of them in the coming few days as they are already very firm and starting to brown a bit in places

Ours have had a fair bit recently - they've just had fertiliser dumped on them and they're making sure the greens get enough water to get it to the roots. Last year we had an irrigation issue that meant large areas of the greens missed any watering during the hottest part of the year. They browned and cracked very quickly.
This year they're much better looking but a bit "lush" so they're quite slow - but they should quicken considerably over the next couple of weeks.

Yes there are several lakes on the course that they draw water from in to a reservoir behind the club house and use that. But they can only draw so much from the lakes as they are used for fishing as well.

Tee boxes and greens only. They were suppose to be doing a lot of work on both of these last week during the racing as we don't get many people playing so I hope they've watered everything in nicely. Can't wait to get up there after work tomorrow and see how the course is looking

They oil ours!
In all seroiusness, at the end of last season the green keeper went out before first light to mow. Unfortunately unbeknown to him the mower had sprung an oil leak. He did two greens before the light came up and he could see what had happened.

Yes surely every course will water there greens
Don't think I've ever played a course without sprinkles around the greens
You'd think. Played a local course (A well known 'well to do' one to boot) and they never water the greens. Leave them to go rock hard to speed them up. You couldn't actually hit the green without bouncing straight through, even with a full wedge.

I understand this to be the norm when referring to 'traditional' links.

The introduction of non local grasses, whilst providing a more green surface, do require more watering in dry conditions.

I do however accept that traditional links greens in the hight of Summer are not attractive but do tend to run ok, however, even your most lofted wedge shots will be tested!

Yes they have been watering for about a week now.
The only thing I don't like is that they water a couple of greens a day for a few hours each so the water seeps deep into the ground keeping the roots long and in good health. This is fine apart from it makes the greens very inconsistent, not only when playing into the greens but putting on them as well.
We had an oil problem on one of the greens early last year when the green mower leaked hydraulic oil on the green which caused a lot of problems for that green for a few months.

Watered year round, in fact we weren't 50 yards from clearing the 18th green on Saturday lunchtime and the full 8-10 sprinklers came on as there was a gap of an hour behind our group
