It might sound an odd question but for the last couple of months a pal of mine has been bending my ear to play at his course in the north of the county.
However they don't have a booking system so you just turn up at the first tee and get in the queue, if there is one.
However he said if we get on the first tee at 07.30 then normally there's no queue. Eh that's still flippin cuddle time 💏
He said if we get there at 09.00 we will have to queue up 😳

Do do they know it's 2015.

For the record our course does have internet booking and I have never encountered one single problem.

does your club have Internet booking ? If not why not and what's the negatives of having tinternet booking if any.

Yep, personally love it. Oldies who play a lot during the week have done everything possible (unsuccessfully) to have it turned off.

Horses for courses I guess

now you have gone and done it!!!!!

we do,you book 3 weeks in advance as a member, but visitors can book further in advance as long as they pay before hand. only member times before 9am and most Sat mornings

For comps only

After that just turn up and play - works well for our members

Yes, implemented this year for Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays (comp days)

Has worked brilliantly, and has stopped people block booking the start sheet then not turning up

Yep... ours has it. I wouldn't join somewhere that I had to turn up and queue. That's ridiculous.

It works for some clubs/courses and doesn't for others.

Not that that'll help avoid the 5+ pages of arguing about it. Again. :D

We've had it in place for cpl years and seems to work ok ive not heard any complaints or negative comments about it,and is useful so you can have a look and see how busy the course is..

We don't have a booking system, internet or otherwise. Outside of comps its just turn up and play.

Never had to wait for more than one group to tee off (although that's usually on weekend afternoons). I would be very surprised if we went to a booking system anytime soon.

We don't have it. Turn up & play. Seems to suit us.

A genuine question...

How does on-line booking work for your swindle/roll-up/geedy or whatever you call it. We turn up and there may be 10, 20, possibly 30 or more of us. We do the draw to see who we're playing with then head off to the 8th & 13th tees (the official starting places for 3 & 4 balls at that time). How would we book enough times to accommodate our need on the day when we don't know how many there will be until the day?
(Not against it per se, but don't see how it would work for us?0)

One of the draw backs, block booking and unused tees.

We still manage by phone and booking tee times, we still have members with no internet.

To be honest I don't know if the club has any roll ups, i know there is a bit of cuddle on a Thursday's. That seems to go quite well.

We have had it for years, it works really well.

Only minor issue is that people will sometimes book a week in advance (for a busy Sunday) and then cancel late or don't show.

i would hate to turn up and have to hang around.

We have a booking system but to be honest it was put in place as we had some people who applied didn't join because we didn't have one.
What they didn't understand, and wouldn't till they joined, that it isn't really needed at our clubs. We know the busy times but generally you never have to wait too long and it's just a straightforward turn up and play. I like it as it means I can go on a whim and not have to worry.

We have had for a couple of years now and you book one week in advance, except for a Saturday which is only 5 days.
It was all everybody talked about at the time, with, it appeared, everyone was against it.
But now everyone just gets on with it.
Apparently the main reason was to identify the quiet times for the course to allow the club to market these times to visitors.
