Played today on a shortened course, and managed to break 80. Shot 79 gross equivalent to 46 points. The scoecard included 10 pars 1 birdie 2 double bogey's and 5 bogies.

So can I claim that I broke the 80 barrier or not?

Numerically speaking yes, but perhaps morally you ought to repeat it on a full length course.

Depends how far it was shortened.

I wouldn't count it if there was any temporary greens as they are a joke imo.

I had a similar thing last year....shot 79 on a course with 2 temporary greens. If anyone asks me if I've broken 80 I always start with "well....." but I don't really count it.

If the tee blocks teed off from are at least on the usual teeing ground and its the proper green then yes.

Any temporary tee or green and its a fake imo :rofl: Not that ive ever had one in any form

Hole in 1 to a temp green? Not really for me. Hole in one to the real green just on winter tees, hell yeah.

Yes, if it's a normal sized hole and not a bucket.

Surely you're the only who can answer?

If someone asked you: "Have you ever broken 80", if you answer with "yes, but.....", then no matter what we say, you won't think it counts, yourself. If you can flat out say "yes, I scored 79", then it counts.

That's my perspective anyway. I'm a long way off that, so i don't have this issue!
