A bit tounge in cheek.

Debate on radio Scotland on whether football should now be ditched as our national sport. Looking at other sports we are pretty decent at then you have to wonder if it isn't such a daft idea.

Rugby? We're not too bad at that, the boys usually do us proud.

Golf? We invented that.....amongst one or two other things ;)... so we could have that.

Boxing? Plenty world champs from here over the years.

Bowls? World champs aplenty over the years.

Curling? Yep, not too bad at that.

Tennis? Nah......we've got Andy, but face it, that's all we've got.

Snooker? A few decent potters.

Karate? Fishing? Darts?

Fitba? Nope. Face it we are pish!

Maybe about time football stopped getting money thrown at it and we concentrate on sports we are good at perhaps?

I think we need a new national sport! ;)

Tossing the Caber? You should be World Champions at that because you are the only ones who do it! :)

That system has worked for the Americans for years. Baseball, American Football, Basketball etc. All world finals that no noe else can compete it.

Oi! Don't you lot get cocky. :)

We're pish.......you're just marginally better. ;)

Scottish folk have learned to live with defeat, that's why we can drink. I tend to not follow such things that promote heartache and despair. They way they lost last night was typical, however, what was even more annoying was how the Germans didn't even turn up. Always seems to come down to Scotland needing about 10 goals to win or relying on other teams. Simpy not good enough in the early stages, and there needs to be something done so future generations actually have a Scotland team to play for.

I think that a lot of the players have learned to just get by doing what they do in their leagues and when it comes to better opposition they are simply outplayed.

Haggis Hunting

I remember when I caught my first Haggis. Wriggly wee critter. It took several coshes to the napper to knock him out. Much like the rabbit from The Holy Grail, it would bite your head clean off. Still to this day, I've never understood why everyone else eats it's testicles, when it's the muscle fibre that's the best bit.

To be honest.... I think we've been a little bit unlucky this time round. Arguably the hardest group, we've got a better head to head against Ireland and two draws with Poland. Just didn't manage to take anything off the world champions and the one match that killed us was losing to Georgia, which was hugely disappointing!

Anyway, who says you have to be any good at your national sport?

Having a good sense of who they are (so would that be champions at Self Awareness?)

(well my wife thinks Scots have that in spades compared with the English - and she's English)
