Does anyone sneak out for a few holes on Christmas Day?

Course is closed so not allowed on it is the simple answer, but I'd also never get away with it either...

Have played 18 on the Dukes the last three years with the Bro In Law and expect will do the same this year - there is normally a few playing

When I was a junior I used to go for 18 in the morning before lunch without fail because usually i'd have new golf garms/equipment i'd want to try out.

Nowadays that I have a partner, I'd get murdered :D
I will be playing Christmas Eve and then the majority of that week however.

Normally over the limit by about 9am, if ever under it from Christmas Eve slurps.

27th @ Castle Combe to blow the cobwebs off

Always too busy with general pressie opening type stuff and then cooking - by lunchtime, I'm good for nothing anyway after a couple of bottle of bucks fizz have disappeared (Mrs C's tradition but I'm not exactly pressured into joining in). Some folks at our place play and always seems like a nice thing to do to me especially as they make it very much a family thing.

Usually play boxing day, and this year Jr will be chomping at the bit once he sees the new clubs he's getting :fore:

What have you treated him to SC?

He's had US kids golf stuff for a few years but is desperate for some 'proper' clubs as he says... The USK stuff has been really good though.

I've been on the scavenge for a while (Ebay account is creaking!); got some Callaway irons, gorgeous MD wedges (courtesy of one of the very kind/generous souls on here) and found a GB Bertha 13.5° driver mega cheap too. Good pro friend of mine is cutting ~2" off and regripping them and he will extend them with dowelling as he grows. Just need a superlight, cheap Cally bag and he's well set!

Played before but dinner commitment means not this year. Courses fully open as is club house and restaurants (a benefit of resort courses)
Boxing day looking likely for a game though

Hope he enjoys all of it mate.

I remember starting out when I was 13 with a RAM Full Set. Got me down to about 16 to be honest and they weren’t half bad irons.
We went to Florida when the exchange rate was very good and bought a Taylormade Burner Driver & an Odyssey White Hot #7 (which I had for around 10 years until a couple of months ago). Transformed my golf game!

Done it last year......just played 8 or 9 holes.....actually bumped into another nutter up there and we played some holes together.

If weather is ok i might try it again this year!!!

No idea if club was closed as i had spare shoes in car and just jumped on.

Nice set up there! I used to love RAM gear, always looked so cool. I had a some STIX irons for years before getting some Swilken Alta when I was around 16. Hoping jr will stick to the same gear like you obviously did, nice way to learn the shots I think before deciding later how you want to go...
