I know I shouldn't go trawling websites looking to buy golf clubs late on a Friday evening having been on the grape juice - but I did.

I was looking for a Taylormade R15 number 2 hybrid. No luck on golfbidder or ebay so just googled the club name. It came up trumps, or so it seemed, with what I was after at £100 with free delivery. I looked at the top of the web page and saw the words onlinegolf. Despite my befuddled state, I decided to check back on posts about dodgy websites and was mistakenly reassured that onlinegolf.co.uk was reputable and owned by American Golf. Unfortunately I had purchased from someone who was not onlinegolf.co.uk.

Today I received a confirmation email from service.golfsale@gmail.com which referred me to their website greatgolfclubs.co.uk and when I checked back on the website on which I made the purchase, it was called - not onlinegolf - but golfpages.co.uk.

The vino seems to have set me up for a costly mistake. The most I can expect - if I get anything - is a fake club.

When will I learn?

Maybe it will be fake, only time will tell. Did you pay by credit card. If it is fake there's a chance of your money back.
A pal was telling me that the golf store in Arnold is having a closing down sale
( again), maybe you could pick one up from there.

Looks dodgy Jim. No contact details and a site littered with spelling and grammatical errors (maybe not important on the forum but should certainly be concerning for a web fronted business).
Once they receive the item intactly... or referring to staff as stuff.
M2 irons for £259. Reeks of phoney I'm afraid. Credit card claim imminent methinks.

Limited stock - it's the R15 I want to complete a set.

Did you pay by credit card? If so I'd call them to see if they can hold the transaction , or, pull the money back.

£259.99 for a new 3-pw set of 716 cb irons.....yikes !

Rosey, you've let yourself down, you've let Oakmere down and you've let fellow inhabitants of the great county of Nottinghamshire down. ;)

Yes I'll bet a pound to a renminbi this is just another site hawking fake clubs from China using the same template they all do with no contact address or phone number, preying on the naive, gullible or drunk. Still, give it a couple of months and stick it in the For Sale section on here and no one will even know*

Credit card company should refund you.

Are you on Facebook? There's a ton of groups selling second hand and ex demo clubs... a lot of guys I've dealt with have been club pros moving on stock in addition to punters like myself who buy and sell like a crazed trader

I'm glad you said that!
Surely by now you should be focusing on sites selling prams, buggies and baby clothes? :D

I know, I know. Increasing age absolves me from the blame for any action taken late on a Friday evening.

Any groups in particular you would recommend, I will be looking for a new set of irons later this year and a new putter very soon, so would be good to find a bargain.
