I was in AG the other day and saw a nice wee deal on a used Taylormade SLDR S 5 wood. No marks on it and it was £70 stiff shaft. I asked to try it out and I felt I was hitting better than the Titleist 913 FD 5 wood they had on the rack. According to GC2 I was hitting this thing over 200 yards with a draw which is the shot I go for mostly. I scratched my head for a few mins then tried again. 223, 219, 209 thereafter ( It was getting hot in there)
I was thinking, this is what I hit my 3 wood on a good hit. I average 174 on Game golf with my 3 wood with the longest being 247. I started thinking about trading my Ping G15 3 wood for it. I've come away three days later and I'm still wondering about it, or just adding the 5 wood and using both to get a better feel out on the course.
Questions...
How accurate is GC2 in this situation?
Does anyone prefer a 5 wood?
What could be the reason for the differencies?
Is the G15 built for the better player with the smaller face?
I've never been able to draw the G15. It's a mental note in myself that I think I'm going to drag the heal on the ground before I get to the ball. It's got quite sharp edge. Off the tee going straight it's fine.
I'm aware of buying gear for the sake of it being there, but this looks pretty good. Any pros or cons to it you can see before I head over tonight?
Thanks as always.
