Do you have many ignorant "members" at your club?

As the title suggests really, I'm trying to gauge if it's a widespread thing or just at a small selection of clubs.
I'm not saying I want to chat and have a laugh with everyone I meet on the course, but it seems the majority of players where I'm at seem to be unable to even make eye contact or the most basic of pleasantries. Aggressive, arrogant members who won't talk to you if you ain't in the right clique.
It really does make playing a strange event sometimes :D but it does put a downer on games sometimes.

So is it the same elsewhere or am I and my usual PP just unlucky to be at a club full of twits?

There will be idiots at every club.

Certianly seen plenty at every club i have played at

As stated, every club has them to one degree or another. It has always existed and probably always will. I think things like drawn competitions and swindles help to break these barriers down and get more people talking to each other but many people are just insular by nature and will never change.

Never really understood why people are like that but it takes allsorts to make the world go round.

Sums it up for me!

Golf should be a sport/pastime where barriers can be broken down - and often that happens. But it can also be an exaggeration of them as well! I think I've been fortunate to only encounter a few really peculiar folk, who I would describe as 'not Golfers'!

If you go back to the early roots of the game, there are plenty of examples where Golf has bridged otherwise immense social/cultural/religious divides!

Never found it a problem at my club. I think the fact our comps are drawn and so you get to meet a lot of members helps. We do have swindles that are rather cliquey but they tend to be "older" members who have played together for years and to be fair I'm not really interested in joining their group. Our own weekend roll up will happily take anyone under their collective wing.

There are some members that are opinionated and loud (doesn't equate to knowledge, especially when relating to rules) but they can still be good company. I'll talk to anyone

I'll talk to anyone at my club.

Well, that's if they are not a socialist and they're a Free Mason and a have handicap less than 10 and have their shirts tucked in and don't change their shoes in the car park and are a committee member. Yes, just about anyone :smirk:
