Morning GM people

If you have either of the following drivers, or have experience of either of them, please could you give me a quick little review of them.
I've seen both of the GM reviews for them and others online. Just wondered if anyone had any more details.

  • Cobra F6+
  • Callaway Great Big Bertha

Thanking you

Don't know about the Cobra but the Callaway is quite an old club. Seem to remember they were popular but very overpriced at the time when it was "boom time" for the oversized drivers. No doubt a good club but be careful exactly which model if you are after one, some of them are on the non-conforming list.

I've got the f6+, but only had it a week. Good build quality. Goes about 20-30yds further, but that is probably down to a better launch angle and shaft. Drove a par 4 last Saturday, and was pin high on two others.

i don't think I have it set exactly how I want it yet but it a yes from me.

Cheers Hobbit!

It's between the 2 for me. Going to get another fitting for both and decide but I'm slightly leaning towards the F6+ for now. In white!

We tried both at our driver test this week, so let us know anything specifically you want to know!

In short, the Cally GBB has heel-toe adjustability so will suit you if you hit a consistent fade/slice or draw/hook you want to straighten up, while the F6+ has CG adjustability that might help you if you're a faster or steeper swinger who imparts too much backspin and loses distance from a high flight.

The GBB comes with 20+ shaft options at no up charge, where as the Cobra is much more limited, which just tips it in favour of the Callaway for me personally, however we strongly recommend you test both side-by-side as you'll never be able to account for feel/looks etc fully without doing that!

I tried the GBB at a fitting day and couldn't get along with it at all. Was hitting it alongside the XR and the XR blew it out of the water. Way more forgiving, more feel off the face, better on off-centre hits and IMO looked better. The GBB just didn't suit me at all. Impossible to say if it'll be the same for you though, best way to find out is to go and hit them both.

I've recently been fitted for the callaway GBB and love it to bits. Had my eye on the taylormade m1 and although the numbers where very close the callaway just pipped it with the bad shot being not as bad as the m1. Plus the £70less price tag also helped.
I'm naturally a fader (slice on a wild ones) so have got this set up to draw and lofted up slightly and in my opinion it helps. Playing off 20 I know my swing will no doubt change a lot yet which is another reason I was after the full adjustability so the driver can change with me rather than being replaced.
Would fully recomend this club to anyone. I'm by no means the biggest hitter in the world but it's helped me with accuracy off the tee and my confidence is sky high with a driver at the moment

Thanks all again for your input.

I went to the fitting trying lots of new drivers not knowing what any of them were with the excessive taping helping a treat for that.
I am not interested in the longest distance or anything like that, I just want the one with the best numbers and feel, and those 2 were recommended as easily the best 2 performers for me.

I continued to use them both after the fitting and couldn't make my mind up really so I'm going to have 1 more go with them both and decide.
I think I said previously, if I had to choose now I'd go with the Cobra I think as it felt slightly nicer at impact.

Whereas I've said I'm not interested in distance, with them both being so similar and not much in them... Jake - on the testing did you find one to be much longer than the other?
If one of them turns out to be a few yards more then that might just seal it for me as every little helps I suppose.

Update: Forgot to add - both clubs gave me much less spin than the others so this was a plus for me. I need less spin from my driver apparently!
