All the talk about balls. Some people say they find X spins to much off the driver or to springy off the putter face etc.

Just wondering has anyone here got fitted and made sure they ball they play is the ball they used for the fitting?

Aas I mentioned in an earlier thread, I got fitted at a free Srixon fitting day at my local range. The fitting must have been good as I am still using the soft feel balls they recommended.

although it does help that I purchased 48 and haven't lost them all yet😉

In a word NO. I've been fitted for clubs where I've been looking for the best set up for me but there is still going to be a degree of inconsistency in my swing so I simply play a ball I like and don't get overly hung up on spin rates etc, especially off the driver. Around the green and off the putter is where I worry about how a ball fits but even getting a wedge fitting, I'd be more concerned with the right bounce rather than whether brand a spins more than brand b. My short game isn't good enough to tell

Agree with this, I will use pretty much any premium ball I find and constantly have some rubbish in the bag I feel I have to lose first before using new ones (of which I stupidly have 3 dozen sitting around, 1x Z Star, 1 Wilson FG Tour and one B330-RX)

Went for a wedge fitting at the srixon centre in oxfordshire and wasn't fussed about spin rates, mainly about lie angles, bounce and shaft for good delivery. Ended up fit for the KBS Hi-Rev but at no point did spin rate enter the conversation.

So long as its not some clicky hard thing I'm ok (read Warbird, Velocity or hate NXTs as well). Chromesofts have the potential to be a bit too much the other way with my putter, but fine with the old backup 70s Anser.

I had a driver fitting last season where after trying a fair few shaft and head options the fitter wanted to lose a few more rpm which we achieved through the ball. Switching to a pro v1x ( or equivalent) did the trick and the results have been noticeable on the course. Ball cuts through the wind much better now off the tee and still have plenty of control with the shorter clubs around the green.

yes when I had my fitting with Alex at Orka we used the ball I was playing with at the time, obviously a lot easier to do so in an indoor setting than on a range
