Do you ever suspect your FCs of "massaging" their scores?

I watched the "what kind of golfer are you" video and 2-3 of the types reminded me of people I play with. One of which being the guy who smashes the ball into the thickest/bushiest trees ever but always seems to find his ball and beyond on miracles sticks it on the green when you're not looking.

Does anyone else experience this? What would you do if you'd be mates for years with said player?

As a side note this only relates to friendly games.

As you're good mates, you could always lend a hand and go find his ball with him...

and then help him decide where to play his next shot from, reload from the tee or where to drop :D

"So you're now playing 3..." is one I use.

If its just a knock, I don't mind if someone improves because I'm only interested in my score against the course but if there's money involved...

I regularly play with a guy like this. Hooks it 60 yards right into the deepest undergrowth off the tee to say "that's findable" and every time it is. Never fires a provisional, so on the odd occasion someone helps him look and therefor he can't miraculously find it, drops one out to save time going back to the tee.

Cheating so & so! We only play friendly's, never comps, so it's only himself he's cheating.

Only once did I ever play with a guy like this in a comp at my old course. 4 or 5 times he hit his ball into the clag. We're talking trees surrounded by waist high grass, nettles, thistles, you name it, it was lost ball territory all day long. Every time he found the ball and what's more, he had some kind of shot. Despite 3 of us looking it was always him finding the ball and neither of us ever saw him find it. It always seemed to be when we either hadn't got to where he'd hit it or had our backs turned. We both had suspicions but no real proof so what do you do?

Of 4 comps I've played this year, 2 have been marred with playing competitors massaging their score. My interest in playing comps has dropped drastically this year!

Funniest incident I ever had was in a bounce game many years ago. I had sliced down the right and my mate pulled his in to the rough to the left. I found my ball and played my 2nd and then looked across and my mate was still looking.

So I headed across to help and when I was about 20 yards away he shouted that he'd found it. When he stepped away from the ball to select a club for his next shot, I found it strange that I could see almost the whole ball above the rough, so I kept walking.

I arrived just as he was completing a few practice swings and there was his ball, absolutely pristine and on a tee!!

I looked at the ball, looked at him and just said "you're so lucky, what are the chances of your ball landing on a tee in the rough?" and moved away to let him play his shot. He still had the brass neck to play his shot with the ball teed up in the rough. :D

Is that a slicing hook or a hooking slice? :D
