Do you care about how you look on the course?

I was at the range earlier and a guy was top-to-toe in all the gear as if he was playing in a major. It got me thinking about how much people care about how they look on the course.

I like to look well presentable in all walks of life, but I felt like this guy looked a bit silly.

So, how much thought do you put into how you dress for golf?

Always look smart and presentable on the course. If going to a more established course say Sherwood Forest GC then will dress up a bit more. As for the range it does not really matter IMO

I like to look smart. I was told by my dear old dad at an early age that if you look good and feel good you tend to perform well. That is an adage he applied to sport and work. I have a preference for Adidas clothing as I like the fit and the style

Always try to look good on the course. However my definition of what looks good is very different to nearly every one else............Belton Woods A1.jpg

I always dress well whether it be taking the dog for a walk or for a round of golf. I always make sure my shoes are immaculate, I co-ordinate my clothing and make sure it is all ironed and spotless at the start of the round. I even make sure my cap or hat and socks / belt etc... matches my outfit. My waterproofs are always clean and folded so as not to look a mess if I put them on in a hurry.

Does this make me play better..........Probably not
What benefits does it have...............Well I feel comfortable, happy knowing I look smart, and confident that no-one will say I look a mess like some people you see with scabby old troos, minging shoes, crease t-shirts and stained visors or caps.

Each to their own though, and the strict dress codes many people talk of and are against can put people off, but so can people turning up looking like they have just rummaged through the bin at the back of a charity shop.

Did he look like Ricky Fowler/Poulter or more like Ernie Els/Less Standout Pros? What made him look silly?

totally agree Homer, look the part, play the part. Although for me, I like Nike clothing, because I play like Tiger.

I'm also thinking how does someone look like they are in a major? I wear Nike shoes, Nike trousers and the top varies. The likes of Rory/Watney have wore my exact outfit but I don't feel like I dress for a major

I don't always look the part for the range but I'm guessing I must look like a pro entering a major on course...

That's where I have been going wrong. I have been worrying about improving my swing to play well, when all I needed to do was buy some smart clobber.:mmm:

School boy error. It's all about the gear and clobber. Image is everything, ability is wishful thinking.
