Do layers affect your swing?

As an off-shoot to Fish's 'What To Wear' thread, do you find wearing multiple layers altering your game in any way?

I was out early yesterday, teeing off at 0837, and it was fairly nippy then. I was clad in a baselayer, short-sleeved polo and jumper, and played reasonably well until the 7th hole where I removed my jumper as the sun was out and the temperature had considerably warmed.

Removing the jumper, to me at least, seemed to alter the way I swung the club and I didn't play the next couple of holes as well as I had done prior to the removal of my top layer until I became accustomed to the lesser restrictions.

Does anyone else find this, either taking off layers or putting them on (even waterproofs) having a short-term effect on their game?

properly cut, properly fitting and surface matched layers.........nope

in practice for most golfers = obviously yes; they will have a practical impact on how you swing (even if you are only mentally aware there will be a practical impact!!!)

in terms of warmth alone there is always a trade off in terms of how many, how thick, how constructed, how breathable and then there's compression or loose etc etc the control element of multi layers is frequently offset by additional restriction in golf - so if you aren't going to adjust your layers during the round then it's probably not the best solution (this assumes you have multiple solutions available of course, which won't be the case for most)

the same arguably applies to water proofing too - specifically at the neck, wrists and waist.

Played with a guy last week who was playing great until he took his jumper off at which point he fell apart. We all joked it was the jumper and weirdly enough he started playing better when he put it back on.

In general I don't like playing in a waterproof jacket. I prefer a gilet as my arms and shoulders feel as if they are free to move.

I've worn up to 4 layers. All of it was proper golf attire meant for the purpose with the ability to stretch in the right places on the golf swing. Never made any difference to me.

I don't like wearing a rain jacket.
It's not so bad if i start with it on, but, putting it on mid round is really not good.
In the H4H day my mate struggled off the tee, he reckoned it was because his boxers were on inside out!
We golfers can find anything to blame, rather than our swings!

Slime.

Prefer not to wear waterproofs unless it's tipping it down but aside from that I can happily wear a base layer, cotton roll neck, polo and woollen jumper in the middle of winter and feel snug and still swing easily

Not really - in the cold have GG underlayer which is very breathable and non restrictive and in the wet the GG waterproof fit is very good to allow a smooth swing

So right now both makes are the same sort of price - function 18 were doing GG at 25 quid last year

The point was when it comes to underlayers GG prices is the same as UA if you are looking to buy now ( as opposed to 2 years ago )
