I was fitted for my Titleist 913 d2 driver around Christmas time, not on a launch monitor just by the pro watching me swing. He never knew my swing speed but i averaged around 107mph on my 3 bays gsa which i believe is accurate. Anyway he recommended the Diamana 72 although he didn't have an x-flex to try, I was however hitting it well until about a month ago but it is only recommended for swing speeds up to 105 on Titleists site. I then made some big changes and my swing speed has now jumped up to about 114 with it maxing out at 118. Should I trawl eBay for a new shaft? I've totally lost confidence in this one.

If you're at 114-118mph then it would be likely that you'd need x-flex. Your smash factor is only 1.44 there which is quite low, you're losing 20yds :p

If I swung at 118mph I'd be off spending the £50 for a proper TRACKMAN fitting!

Lydon, might be best heading to a specialist club builder. Its a bit of a trek (maybe an hour and a bit for you) but Tour X golf in Warrington has a multitude of club and shaft options .

Is the shaft you have a "made for Titleist" one as that is not a stock option for the 913...?!

My average before was 107 now its 114 so its only another 7mph. I used to cast the club before but now I hold my wrist angle much better. Do Tour x stock & fit sure fit hosels?

I'm associated with the Pinstripe Golf Society.

Most are lawyers and a few are equipment junkies, so you could probably get advice on both shafts and language from the same source! :D

Trivial task to change the shaft in a 913 - apart from the cost. Worth getting some sort of fitting (your Pro could well be as capable as some operators of some Trackman/Flightscope fittings) but if you have lost confidence, then a change is probably needed - either to the shaft or to re-establish confidence. Why exactly have you lost confidence? Been reading WRX? Experienced wides?

From memory, you play with a couple of very low guys. Do they play X-flex? If so, you could try their Drivers to see what difference it makes.

Seems a slight pity you weren't at current level a month or so ago. I know a guy who got a great deal on 913 with Whiteboard X for zero upgrade cost. Only applied to X apparently.

TourX Golf should have everything to fit you properly btw.

The guy there Nick is really knowledgeable, im sure he does stock them but if you call to book ask him. He's a really nice fella. Lots and lots of pros in the NW use him so he stocks a myriad of shafts , some of which are very expensive though. He used to be the tour rep for adams and has built clubs for langer, daly, watson and torrance .

Not sure about the made for titleist its a black diamana 72 stiff flex I didnt have to pay extra for it, its in my locker so can't check anything else.

When I first got it I opted for 72 gram instead of the 65, which both were much heavier than my last driver. I lost a bit of speed initially but gained more control as it slowed my transition. Ive worked hard at upping my distances and I'm now finally happy with the power I'm getting. However a lot of slices and pushes are creeping in with my driver, when I used to hit a gentle draw. Im hitting my irons as near to perfect as I ever have so its leading me to question my shaft.

Think I'm gonna ring tour x tomorrow and see what he can do for me

The made for if it is was a 910 stock shaft, I am interested to know as it kinda seems like the pro fobbed you off with a stock shaft from an older version of the driver. There is a 913 version of that shaft for 2012/13.

slices and pushes don't strike me as indicators of a shaft that needs stiffening....you clearly need a professional assesment to rebuild your confidence at the very least.
