had a 12ft fall from a ladder at work yesterday, possibly due to leaves stuck on the sole of my work boot, foot slipped and then I was doing a triple salko in the air Torville and Dean would have been proud of, landed right on my arse/palms

currently unable to sleep hence the time of this post, chronic pain but just soft tissue damage and a severely banged coxyx (sp) although my upper body is now seizing up a lot I guess due to the impact.

Had a medal Sunday and thats out of the window and also an away day booked by friends on Friday at a location still unknown by me

Gutted :(

On a side note it could have been a lot worse so just glad for that. r&r for me for the next few days, still hoping I can make friday so deep heat is being used/ice packs on the go and anti inflamateries r us :D

erm H&S investigation no doubt, apparently they will no doubt look to pin the blame on me. Luckily I had just been up the telegraph pole 5 mins previous so my ladders were on there all correctly tied up etc and coorectly setup at the house so I am ok on that score. Manager came out taking photo's of my boots, PPE etc and cuts to hands and oddly one on my nose, think it was my glasses!

Walking like I shat a melon hahaha

A guy I know with a challenge tour card slipped off the bottom rung of a ladder, all of six inches from the ground. He smashed his ankle to bits and has yet to go back to the game properly. And he was exceptionally good.

Lucky Gibbo... it could have been a lot lot worse!

Hope you are recovered soon mate.

I used to work as a sky installer. The H & S with regards to ladder work was strict and extensive, if you employed all the laid down procedures on every job you wouldn't be home until midnight. You pretty much made a judgement call on how much of your equipment you used in order to stay safe - knowing however, that if you got caught out you were likely to be sacked.

We had a guy who had a quite bad fall on a job. The guys TM came out to interview the customer to try and glean an insight into how the accident happened. She told him that she thought it strange that she saw him crawl out to his van and then crawl back with a metal frame thing - it was his ladder mate which he hadn't bothered to use but even in pain he knew that neglecting to use it could possibly cost him his job.

cheers chaps, feel like I have been beaten up a bit now, although my rump doesnt feel so tender :)

must be cos I am a Northerner (hard as nails ;) )

thats terrible Gibbo, in a sense you are very lucky not to have broken something or worse, another positive is its winter and not the height of the season with matches coming up.

get well soon, maybe Mrs Gibbo can rub the deep heat on:cool:

I tell ya I am feeling a lot better tonight, had a couple of radox baths today, the hot/cold treatments and tablets have worked a treat. Still stiffness in my shoulder blades (my palms/arms must have taken the most impact than I reckon)

I actually feel like I could play a round tomorrow. Unbelieveable really considering at 1 stage I felt like I had broken my back or something. Just shows how much the body can handle, even at nigh on 40 years old

scrap that, just went down the shopfor a few bits and anything over 5 yds I am still walking like I shat my pants. Oh well, another week missed. Will try these new irons/putter on the course eventually

In my opinion, I'd give it a miss tomorrow.

Say you play a round tomorrow since your feeling ok(ish), cos you'll push yourself. What happens come Monday you can't move.....go to the dr and he says you have another problem relating to the fall. Should you later try and make a claim you could find yourself trying to explain away why it was ok to play golf but not work.....

Myself I think I'd give myself a couple of weeks to recover before thinking about swinging a club....

Just my 2p worth.

Ps get well soon.......

Cheers
Andy

got to be fit for Friday as my mates have booked a round somewhere special for my 40th, already paid for so would rather sacrifice a few ays and be in better shape, really wanted to try and get a h/c cut before winter but hey ho, the fates have conspired against me ;)

I'd keep taking the tablets, baths, rub downs with the Farmers Weekly and anything else that gets you fit for your day out on Friday. Just go there to have fun and accept that you may not play great golf. Hope you don't get pinged by H&S and that you feel better soon

nah I am covered, tell ya what tho, why is it after any slight accident is it the employee who is suddenly crossing his fingers that he done everything right!!!

gonna milk a few days off next week aswell for a bit extra rest
as it was a work related accident it doesnt count as standard sick = sorted :D

really want to hit my irons on the course and not the bloody range grrrrr

more annoyed than anything Murph, was looking forward to hitting the Nike irons, stroking a few sweet putts into the hole with the Ping Anser and instead I have to smell of deep heat and walk like one of the cast off planet of the apes :(
