Whilst there are many benefits to my new club over my old one, the arrangements for December and over the Xmas period are pretty disappointing.

This is the time of year that I associate with 'fun' golf, Turkey Trots, Texas Scrambles, 4 club comps that sort of thing and my old club had plenty of competitions on including ones on Xmas Eve, Boxing Day, New Years eve and a few inbetween. My current club has pretty much nothing. The Seniors and Ladies seem to have set up some comps but as for men, there is one midweek medal and one midweek stapleford for the whole of December except for this Saturday where there is a charity competition with a limited field starting off 2 tees. This shuts 2/3 of the course between 8.45 and 11 so little chance of getting out before or after.

Anyone else lacking in festive golf opportunities at their club or does everyone have a full calendar in December.

Turkey 'n' wine trots
Whisky banters
9 hole tot of rum foursomes
Texas beer scramble
New years day 'hair of the dog' greensomes

I think I see a pattern :smirk:

When I first joined RAGC, there was a Xmas comp (qualifier) as well as the monthly stableford, there was also a Turkey Trot and I'm sure there used to be something on NYD as well. This year we appear to have dropped those in favour of mixed social comps. I have no issue with mixed social comps, but not at the expense of qualifiers.

The lack of qualifiers this time of year does annoy me but given previous responses I have had from the comp sec, there is no point raising it again.

I really do not care too much what the format is but the frustration is that I have 2 whole weeks off (unheard of) and absolutely no competitions to enter.

We can beat that, We have two comps in December and the next is in the middle of January. That's why I am a member of a 9 hole club as well. Comps every Sunday
