I was diagnosed with MS 12 years ago, I was a keen golfer (16 handicap) and thought my golfing days were over as I can barely walk. This year doors have opened into a world of disabled sport.
I know disability covers a wide spectrum from amputees, strokes, blindness etc and with the right equipment it is possible to get out on the course again.
It would be great to hear from other disabled players and suitable courses

welcome to the forum and back into golf. my father has MS, so i can slightly understand what your going through. im not sure if there are any forumers with a disability. but hopefully someone will turn up. good luck with the golf fresh air and the feel good factor can only benefit you

There is a guy at Sand Martins where my wife works that only has one leg and still plays. He sort of hops and then swings and he's amazing. He nedds a little help with someone to hold his crutches and spot for him and a buggy to get about but he's often out there. He ca only manage nine most days but he goes to prove that where there's a will there's a way

My young brother still plays and he lost his leg below the knee ,he has an artificial one and it doesn't hinder him at all,he's a great striker of a ball.

Being disabled shouldn't stop you playing it doesn't stop him, so good luck and welcome to the forum.

Had polio as a kid and left with a weak Lt leg, but never let it be a handicap, -then I took up golf where everyone gets one!! -handicap that is. :D

Hi there, I was diagnosed with MS 2 years ago and actually took up golf as I could no longer play football. I'd recommend a flat course as obviously that would help with your balance when taking shots, mine's about as flat as they come! If you could speak to a local club they may be willing to offer free/heavily discounted use of a buggy which would help you get around.

Whereabouts are you based? If you want PM me your email address and we can chat more off forum and if you are nearby I'd be more than happy to pick you up and have a round at my club.
