Direct Golf have reduced the Garmin S1 watch less than a week after I placed an order (it's now £99 and I paid 119) - now I'm in Ireland and I plan to return it and re order at e new price. Has anyone done the same or even asked to refund the difference to save P&P?

I would think that you are taking the Michael!

I'll chance it and call them tomorrow and see what can be done...if nothing ill send it back and reorder as its a gift so it's not been opened yet (in fact it might already be wrapped!)

If you wanted to pay £99 for it you should have asked them if they'd sell it to you at that price. As has been stated you were happy to pay £119 at the time, just cos the item is now on offer doesn't mean you should get the difference back. They are a business after all trying to make money.

Given that the there was only 1 week between purchase and offer, I'm pretty sure their 'Customer Care' process would kick in ad at least grant you a £20 credit.

Why?

The OP was happy to pay the original price. Are you suggesting that retailers, when having a sale, should contact all customers who have recently purchased at full price items subsequently reduced in the sale and give them a refund?

Not very realistic to expect is it or perhaps the same retailers should contact recent customers and ask for extra money when prices rise.

You are well within your right to return it and reorder it.

Give them a ring and see what they say. If they dont wanna play ball then send it back and reorder.

Cant believe the amount of people making out its not right

Explain how it's wrong. The sale has to start sometime, should they stop selling it for a month before discounting it?

Can you run by us what those "rights" are exactly?

What right is there to do this?

Are the goods faulty or not as ordered? Not according to the OP.

If you want consumer protection don't expect to take the mickey (No, not me).

If your not happy with a product then you are well within your rights to return it within a certain timeframe.

If the said timeframe overlaps into a sale period where the item becomes significantly cheaper then there is nothing to stop anybody returning said item and reordering it or even buying it elsewhere that might have it discounted.

There is no rules bending or breaking if you do the above. All completely well within your rights as a customer.

Every right to do it. There is nothing against the law in doing it is there?

You can return unwanted items within so many days if you wish. You dont need an excuse to do it.

Would you expect the same to apply if there was a month (or 2, or 3) between purchase and the Sale?

There's a slightly risque story about a Winston Churchill incident that's equivalent!

Obviously not. If you buy something and it goes cheaper within the return date (maybe 28 days) then there is no harm in it though.

I bought a packet of dairy milk in Morrisons on Wednesday and now they have it down to BOGOF.

I'll pop in and see what they say to me getting another one for sweet FA.....

Don't know where you get that from.

Individual retailers might offer something along those lines but it is not a legal requirement for the retailer to exchange goods for no other reason than the purchaser has changed his mind.

There is when they have offered you chance to return unwanted items like it says on their website!
