Just had an email to say the shop is closing and everything is 20% off. I am sure there are a few out that that live locally that might be interested.

Honestly, I'm not surprised. I've had a few bad experiences in there, usually waiting 20 minutes to try a club as they only have 2 members of staff on a Saturday afternoon. I found the staff a bit un-interested in anything other than a good chat behind the counter and, it seems, when I went in looking at irons a while back, the guy wanted me to buy the most expensive set even though the trackman numbers were better on the cheapest set!

Also, DG have a habit of not really knowing about their discounts. Went in once looking at a Mizuno 3 Wood, to be told it wasn't in the 20% off sale. As I got home an email popped into my inbox and, low and behold, 20% off sale - including the Mizuno 3 Wood.

Another time, got £10 off from an issue of Golf Monthly, and they wouldn't accept in on the £69.99 pair of Adidas shoes, but would on the was £99.99 now £64.99 pair of Adidas shoes!

The whole thing just feels like they get what they can, when they can. I've never had a good experience there!

Worth a look at what really is 20% off!!

I was in the store at the weekend... They have been running the 20% off everything since the start of June so most of the stock has gone but there is still some bargains to be had. Got some ProV1x for £28 and think I'm going to go and pick up a 3 wood this week.

I would have thought all the stock (full price, latest gear etc.) would be relocated...

When I worked at Homebase we had a couple of stores close locally, and 95% of stock was relocated. The only things that were sold off (at discounted prices) was items that were either damaged, packaging damaged, items missing, discontinued stock. You catch my drift!?

Maybe it's a Franchise.
Not sure if DG work like this but it could account for the sale rather than redistribution
If the stock is paid for DG probably wouldn't buy it back for the same money the shop can sell it for even at 20% off..

I asked them if they had any Odyssey putters, and he said they were cleaned out......but were getting a new delivery today

Looks like they're just using it to boost short-term turnover in an area where turnover has been poor.

I got a new bag from them recently. I asked if they were just running the stock down until they close in mid August. The chap said 'yes pretty much', but if there is something you are after (set of irons, driver etc) they could get it in as they would still make a small margin on it.

Just a heads up for any locals - staff said when I went in that discount had increased to 30% but when they put the bridgestone balls I was buying through they came up with 40% off so £21 per box. Not sure if that will apply to everything but worth a look with some high value items also left in there.

I asked whether it was a franchise and the guy said no and couldn't understand why they weren't just moving stock either.

Popped in there earlier today. Not a great deal of stock left but they did have a couple of aeroburner drivers and a few G30 hybrids/3 woods. Also plenty of Bridgestone balls still in stock.
There was still quite a few decent items of winter clothing if anyone wants to stock up ready for winter.
