Not a complaint so much, but disappointed.

I ordered something on Monday, and was told that delivery would be within 5 working days. I asked if I could have it before Saturday and was told that should be okay. I phoned today to find out when they would arrive and was told that they were leaving Direct Golf today and wouldn't get them until Monday. I was also reminded that delivery was 5 to 7 working days, which is does state on their website.

What ticks me a little is that I was under the belief that when told that they would probably be with me before the weekend, then they would be.

They might still arrive tomorrow, but I'm holding out little hope after being told that they'd be delivered on Monday.

Am I being unreasonable or just impatient?

I guess the answer was to pay an extra £10 and get 2 day delivery.

If I order a bed, I expect it to take a week, but not this!

Is this how all golf mail order places work?

Lets hope they arrive tomorrow, and I'll just be a little wiser next time.

After all, I've heard nothing but good things about Direct Golf in the past.

To be honest I have dealt with DG quite a lot and have never had a problem. It is frustrating when you want a club to be delivered for your weekend round but I guess sometimes hold ups do occur.

No I agree with you haplesshacker, if they state the said times then they should stick to them.

I am in the middle of one now with AG, I ordered 3 dozen balls on the 29th and still waiting for the bloody things. On Monday (when someone was at home) they didn't arrive so phoned them up and said deliver to my work address as its over the stated period they said, guess what happened yesterday, they delivered to my home address!! its 9 days since the order and if no show today I expect a refund.

I also had an issue with 118Golf when ordered 4 Exoflex gloves, they sent Retroflex instead and took 10 days to replace, though they have not asked for them back. The same as Online golf who where a week late and totally lied to me on numerous times, they gave me the total value back in loyalty points and the things I ordered!!

It happens, I just checked AG site and they state 3-5 days, now on day 6 excluding NYD and the weekend, but 9 days since the order went in. The staff have been very nice though and helpful which doesnt make the wait too bad.

EDIT: It was the 30th Dec last Tuesday I ordered.

This is always the problem with mail order, from the moment the order goes in, I am looking in the post box every ten minutes.

Should being the key word there.

Fair comment, but equally, if the product was ordered on Monday, how come they have taken three days to get it out the door??

Maybe they make cash from customers paying extra for next day service and if they gave free del with 3-5 days del and it arrived the next people would expect it all the time and so cut their profits.

Just how it works sometimes I'm afraid, but they did give you prior warning that it could take upto a total of 7 working days. Although it's really frustrating and they did tell you over the phone that it might be with you before the weekend, (I know from personal experience) you just have to be patient. If it doesn't arrive by Monday/Tuesday then you really do have something to be a little disappointed.

Day 1 is generally the day after the order is placed. So it is a case of a bit of patience for the delivery I'm afraid.

It's also the worst time of year for ordering stuff like this, the Christmas rush has passed, no doubt a backlog to deliver after Christmas shutdown, then New Year and another shut down, not too easy for the carrier/courier to move stuff around the country in the normal manner.

I ordered some stuff week before Christmas which arrived on time, but deliberatly didn't order stuff in the sales between Christmas and New Year 'cause it wasn't going to get here as I would have liked. ( no money left anyway!)

Prior to the AG price drop on the Ben Sayers "Benny" driver, I was looking around on the 'net for the cheapest price. Managed to locate what I was looking for and ordered it over Xmas. Got a message back from the site the following day to say due to Christmas holidays and the guy going off to Spain for a week the item wouldn't arrive until 7th/8th Jan.
I then purchased one from AG and sent an email straight away to the other company cancelling my order.
Received email confirmation this morning that the order had been processed and had been dispatched!
Phoned them up to ask them if they had received my cancellation email to be told that they had returned from holiday but nobody had bothered to check their inbox!
So I've now got the bloody agro of sending the thing back again!

Quite.

The carrier taking 3 days, I'm okay with. Retailers using 3 day service is okay. I'm involved in a mail order operation myself. What bugs me is the 3 days to get it out of the door in the first place.

Recently bought several shirts from DG + HID getting some of my Xmas pressies from them. To be honest they gave the swiftest service I've had! Example :- 4 Callaway polo shirts on normal delivery ordered on a Tuesday, courier knocking my door down at 8am Thursday!!

I have to be honest and say I've not used DG for a while. Ihave had no problem with online golf. I ordered a new TM beanie as I seemed to lose mine over the weekend and ordered it Sunday afternoon (not a working day) and paid for regular P&P (5-7 working days) and it was there by Wednesday.

I think it is the luck of the draw when the order is picked up off the system and located and boxed in stores. It also depends when their mail collection is. Like others have said they didn't make a committment to it arriving but you may get lucky.
