Evening all.....
Iv been thinking about changing my 5 Wood for a 19.5 deg Wilson Staff Fybrid......
Iv dropped my driver also from the bag so iv got room for an extra wedge also.....
Just wondering has anybody any thoughts on whether ther would be a loss of distance if i changed from 18 deg 5W to the 19.5 Fybrid and what wedge would be recommended....
I hit my 52 deg wedge from 110mtrs and my 56 from about 90 mtrs.....

It seems to me that you're spending too much time worrying about what sticks to use. It can only lead to doubt and indecision. Pick a lineup and stick with it. I was constantly dropping woods and adding wedges and in the end I went with PW 52 and 58 (instead of 52, 56 and 60). Stuck with it and learnt my yardages and much happier now

That seems like a huge!! gap between 52 and 56. what are the other specs of those clubs?
I wouldn't have thought you should need a wedge between those two but possibly a higher loft.

Sorry guys that was meant to read 90 not 70.......
As regards the bag set up i rarely use my 5 wood now ...It may come out if its windy as its got a very boring trajectory and its good into a wind....

I'd imagine the hybrid will be shorter than a 5 wood mainly because the shaft will be a bit shorter.

I tried a 19deg 5 wood and hit it about 10-15 yards further than my 19deg hybrid.

No Region.....Im playing the Wislon Staff FG5 Tours now....PW loft is 47 degrees.....
At the moment things look like this....
3 wood 15 deg
5 wood 18 deg
3h 21 deg
4I 24 deg
5I 27 deg
6I 31 deg
7I 35 deg
8I 39 deg
9I 43 deg
PW 47 deg
Wedge 52 deg
wedge 56 deg

That looks a fairly decent spread of lofts Kid. Of course its how far you hit them not the number on the sole...

If you think you're going ot use the 19.5 more than the 5 wood then it may be worth it but it will be shorter - shorter shaft/,ore loft. Having said that, if it suits you down to the ground the extra flight/carry could make it similar in distance to the 5.
Only other club you're going ot get in that line-up is a lobber!

You hit the ball further than me, but the difference is going to be very small.
If I had a fybrid rescue 21 and 5 wood 18, I might use just the one club (19.5) instead of two, but I'd rather spend the money on 2-3 lessons. You can over-tinker i.m.o.

My sister bought me a 5h (27) fybrid and I'm planning (sometimes) on playing with 2 rescues instead of 3/4/5 irons.

I played the other day with Driver/2x rescues and 7/9/PW/LW irons in a pencil bag. Brilliant 8 club set (incl. putter) ...and didn't struggle on any hole...if I didn't have the right club, I just laid up or choked down. Still played to my h'cap.

These are the clubs i would use for the givin distances.....In proper conditions obviuosly

3Wood no idea...its longer than the 5 and its my driver :D :D
5 Wood 220 ish
3H 190
4i 180
5i 170
6i 160
7i 150
8i 140
9i 130
PW 120
52 DEG 100-110
56 DEG 80-90
All the above are in mtrs.
The reason im thinking of the 19.5 deg is that we have a par 3 on our course thats 197mtrs off the whites to the green centre....Im over the back of the green with the 5 wood and i hate choking down before anyone says it...And the 3h just about gets me to the front edge of the green....
Im thinking that the 19.5 maybe the club to hit the middle.

Sounds to me like you've made your mind up, already.

If you think you'll play better, you probably will.

And for the sake of an extra £60 then, as long as you can afford it, it's not going to be a fatal mistake if you get it wrong.

If you're talking about a difference of 1.5*, in theory that's a difference in distance of only 5m or so between clubs. So in theory, unless you are up there in pro class when it comes to ballstriking, you wont see a difference enough times for it to matter.

But

If you think it's going to work for you, it might well do it.

Personally, if I was to add the 19.5* fybrid, I'd swap it for the 3H, not the 5W.

Then your meterages would go
5w 220
Fybrid 195
4I 180

Which is, for me, a more balanced differential.
