Pm stevek1969, he's having a mid life crisis and is never out the gym at the moment!

I wouldn't worry about the gym at your age - growing muscles and all that.

But I'd talk to Smiffy about hitting a tyre as part of your practise regime. It's meant to be good for maximising distance.

All the ususal stuff.

Increase intake of fruit and veg and reduce foods which contain empty calories. Reduce amount of fizzy drinks consumed and increase intake of water.

Exercise would be general conditioning things like cv exercise and weight specific exercises for golf. Some weight training can restrict golf movements.
Check the tiger woods book, how I play golf as he explains quite well in a section about all the above.

Also keep checking labels on food for calories, fat content etc.
Wife hates going to Tesco as I check all the labels, she says it takes "ages" to get round.

Hi Connor

Sorry I don't know how old you are - But I wouldn't worry to much about weights to start with, I would have a look for some power bands they are an easy way of adding some resistance to stretches they cost about £8 from most sportsshops.

With the diet just read the labels most products will give you a grams of per 100 grams amount, so its easy to treat this as a %, you want to be aiming at approx 65% carbs, 20% protein, 15% fat and about 2000 cals on a quiet day 2250 when you have played golf or exercised.

At your age Connor you shouldn't be lifting weights you'll do more damage than good.
Try using a Swiss Ball you get them for about £5 from Tesco and a resistance strap as posted earlier and work on your core if you check out the Titliest web site they have a fitness programm for golfers on it ,its actually pretty good also maybe buy a Mens Fitness mag for other tips and dietry needs.
At the end of day mate just enjoy it and dont go overboard with it your still a kid ,you dont wont to bulk or it could ruin your swing.
Any more help need just pm me, hope this helps.

Mono , just play, go to your new club each day and practice, then play a few holes, then practice some more etc etc. Your handicap will keep tumbling.
