First class..............as it is every year I can remember. I even have the original Beeb golf intro music as my ringtone.:whoo:

It was fine, allis makes a few errors here and there but there is an awful lot of time to fill.

Just about OK IMO.

The camera men were absolutely useless at spotting the balls and were often focussing in completely the wrong areas, often having to pan considerably further down the fairway.

Even with the players hitting into greens or missing them, the camera wasn't even close.

The only saving grace for the beeb was Alliss.

First class for me - coverage was superb and I enjoy the commentators

i don't love every commentator, in fact not keen on most of them, but the weekend coverage was excellent. a full afternoon golf without any adverts or indents or the like. extremely refreshing.

As i said in the other tread, its fine if you want to sit a watch all day, i like a highlights show, its always been a problem for the Beeb, partly why cricket is better on other channels.

Just Ok for me. Get Wayne Reilly and the Sky camera men in and it'd be fantastic coverage. The commentary team was great. It was just the camera mens lack of ability to follow the ball that let it down.

The same cameramen will be doing the Ryder Cup and they also did the PGA

First class for me.
Live coverage rather than the "faux live" feeds we get on US tour where it seems nearly every other shot isn't shown in the right order. No adverts, knowledgeable commentary, entertaining clips and features. Not perfect but a lot better than Sky.

Bearable for me. Not fussed on the commentary and on course team with the exception of Ken Brown and just find their presentation staid. Perhaps I'm just dazzled by Sky's gizmos and the wit or Radar

Thats just down to lack of practice as they dont do enough of it

if the BBC covered more golf, it would improve im sure

That's a shame. Let's hope they do a bit better. I appreciate it's a difficult job and I am usually in awe of their ability to focus in on the ball that I sometimes struggle to see by eye, this weekend however I wasn't.

Loved it in the main. Agree some of the camera work wasn't great and squinting at the TV thinking "so where's the ball then" and realising it wasn't in the frame! Liked the commentary team in the main and always enjoy Ken Brown's on the course stuff which is way better than all the stupid touch screen gizmos Sky seem to use at every opportunity.

Well done the beeb.

I've met a few of the cameramen who do golf - they are all freelance - exactly same people do SKY and the BBC in the UK

exactly!

It was very difficult to see a wee white ball against a white sky and light brown grass especially on the last day. As Phil says it will be the same people at Gleneagles but it will be dark green grass and black clouds so easy to spot

Gotta agree, Ken lobbing balls around shows exactly what we want to see. It also gives a bit of perception to the gradients that you don't usually get when watching the live coverage.
