Did anyone notice any Forum issues around 16:45?

I only ask, as I was having a lesson and after checking everything was still OK with my swing and tweaking a few things we started talking about where I need to focus to get my h'cap down to Cat1. Obviously we discussed short game and worked on a better technique for 50yd pitches D) and then he hit me with it...

I could almost feel the bits and bytes behind the forum bursting out of the server

I was trying to say my pro thinks I need to hit longer drives to get to and stay at Cat1 without turning the thread into the usual long drive argument.

Ahh with you now its a well known fact that the moment you cross the threshold into cat1 you instantly gain 15 yards, regardless of how far you pummel it.

Well a Cat 1 player I played with quite often must have been seriously short when off 6!

He used to hit it pretty much exactly 250 - every time! We used to joke that he couldn't play the same course in the same weekend or he'd risk having to hit from his last round divot - which would always be n the middle of the fairway! And his handicap had gone up a few shots since his Uni days!
