I have just come back from my 4th practice session of the week.
Recently its been down to 1 or 2
After watching a few Mark Crossfield and Luke Donald tips I thought I would give them
a go.
I have been having a few problems with weight transfer[always have].
Mark Crossfield had a great tip where you hit a ball that was 6 inches ahead of your normal
ball position, like you were reaching for it.
Im no good at links but im sure theres someone who could find it and put it up,purely
because its helped.
Also practiced drawing and fading a wedge 5-10 yards and homing in some yardages for the 52 degree wedge.
Only 3 shermans so happy days.
Got to beat the Pieman:).
Anyone else working on things?

That's one I've used for years as a way of swing through the ball (and finishing the sing) rather than at it.

Not sure about the concept of 'reaching for it'. That seems a bit dangerous (loss of lag) to me.

I'm continuing my 'increase angle of attack' - along with proper weight transfer - regime.

I think the feel that your reaching for it promotes the feel that the weight has transferd.
As the divot comes after the ball has been struck.
Hopefully someone will post the video.

Reaching for the ball (so to speak) would actually promote lag, not lose it.

What's the link for the video Pokerjoke? (just copy and paste it here)

Here you go Foxy....

On the left... not reaching for the ball (no lag)
On the right... reaching for the ball (tons of lag)

NB: someone forward this pic to Gareth as it shows why the right shoulder has to come down :p

Nice to hear the work is paying off PJ

I am currently working on a better movement into the downswing. I've had a very lazy hip action since I took up the game and it's caused me no end of problems.

I'm currently working on a few bits to remedy this.

Bunkers and round the green. I am regularly keeping pace up to the green or green side with people I pay with who are much lower handicaps but then end up loosing a shot over the last 15 - 20 yards either misjudging a chip or long putt or taking two out of a bunker. Been putting in a lot of practice and feel like its paying off even if the results are not always showing it yet.

Would be nice to get a small cut before the end of the qualifiers - fingers crossed!

Cheers mate
Its amazing what you can find on you-tube,easy to understand, and costs you nothing apart
from time.
Good luck with the hip action:D

That's the one,well done

This was one of 10 of his videos that I had saved on a word document. I'd sit at work and watch them :)

I said before, his early videos were very good. not so much a fan of his new stuff.

For anyone looking for a great source of info - I highly recommend this site.. - Pete Styles - no frills or arrogance just delivers the info.

He has a nice section on fundamentals which resurrected my game.
