Off to France for a couple of weeks next week, any recommendations for decent holiday golf reads ?
Four iron in the soul - Lawrence Donegan
A course called Ireland - Tom Coyne
An American caddie in St Andrews - Oliver Horovitz
Harvey Penick's Little Red Book
No hiding in the open - John Hoskison
The golf omnibus - PG Wodehouse
Sam Snead "The Education of a Golfer" Really funny & available for the Kindle. Also Ben Hogan's authorised biography is brilliant, saddest opening paragraph I've read in a long time.
Really enjoyed 'Four Iron...' but was not so keen on 'Bring Me the Head of Sergio Garcia'. I found ok as a bit of light entertainment but it was a bit like an attempt to copy 'Round Ireland with a Fridge' and all of the other Tony Hawks escapades. Not really that much about golf.
If I can find them, I may still have both of those books cluttering up the house somewhere and am happy to post them on to someone to read. Will let you know if I find them.
The Plane Truth is a great book!
Tom Watson - Getting up and down.
The Plane Truth may be a great book, but it sure as hell ain't the plane truth.
Care to elaborate?
This isn't really the time or the place, but in brief Hardy's one plane and two plane golfers very rarely exist in reality - virtually everyone is a mix of the two. His version of the one plane swing lacks dynamism in so many way that I'd never recommend it.
