Just got an email with winter offers from the Scottish Golf Union - one of which is a fourball at Muirfield for £300 - that's just £75 a skull. If I was playing better I'd be having some of that.

Oh well - there's an incentive to get my swing sorted out over the winter.

Do some of the courses only have one or two times a day anyway and only on certain days ???
Yes I think they do - Muirfield are donating the tee times to raise money for junior development in Scotland - I played Loch Lomond for £40 a good few years ago on the same sort of basis - they had two tee times available on a certain day of the week then.

There's a tee time at 12 noon on Monday's at Prestwick too and any time on Tuesday's at Troon Portland

...and from tropical November.......plus all 4 must belong to a club.....

Personally I think the players must belong to a club is a great thing. Giving something back to people who she'll out membership fees every year!. More clubs should do this to encourage people to join clubs.

But the tee times are rediculous!

Indeed, as it's being done through SGU, the requirement to be a Club Member would be expected.

And what's wrong with the tee times? Tuesday and Thursday are Muirfield's Visitors Days anyway, so quite reasonable to me. It's highly likely that, during that period, there will be very few playing anyway. If the weather looked good and work wasn't frantic, I used to ring up (pre the internet booking system) on a Monday or Wednesday and was always able to book. I was the only person on the course a couple of times!

I played Muirfield a few years ago with the same deal it was £240. To be honest I was a bit dissapointed with the course 4 par 3 holes were very much the same BUT for £240 to play an Open course was very good. We stayed for lunch the welcome we got from the staff was 1st class.
