Guys, Mrs wants a short getaway without the kids, any suggestions? Must be a BA flight as i have a free voucher to use, i am torn between a proper pre xmas trip going to somewhere like Munich which i know well, has a renowned Christmas market etc, or try and get somewhere that's a little bit warm still, canaries is the obvious shout. (i think she would prefer warmer, but has left it to me!)

Any suggestions?

Christmas Market all the time - Berlin - Prague - Warsaw. Just put a long sleeve coat on or go really posh and try Salzburg.

I'm with you i think, but i go to all these places all the time for work, but suppose its quite nice to know the lay of the land, some good eateries and hotels in advance! Hmmm I did love Berlin last time i was there, but the airport is possibly one of the worst in Europe! Prague is amazing, also toying with Vienna, Munich, or possibly somewhere in the Nordics..

BA to Iceland to see the Northern Lights if you get lucky

We went to Bruges last December beautiful place very relaxing, good craft beers plenty of nice places to eat,not to big so easy to walk around with a ice-rink in the main square with Xmas market.

Dubai... after a short break, seeing the glitzy shops and the souk you'll have had enough. And it will be a tadge warm - currently 30*C midday temps.

suddenly gets expensive, tax on my free business class flights in EU is under 100 quid. Tax to Dubai 600+

Ouch! scrub that idea.

Sicily. BA fly into Palermo. I love Sicily.

Or to Naples then drive onto Sorrento or get the ferry across to Capri...

Shame, I though Istanbul was amazing....but the recent political uncertainty main have swayed Mrs R?

Think it was the fact it's not going to be that 'xmas'y' may have swayed her, and as you say the potential for anything. After booking i read the government travel advice site and yeh, may not have been my best call. While its safe enough, its a has the potential to go off at any minute..
