Dead chuffed to have received the December issue of Golf Monthly through the letter box today as it contained my article about playing my 100th course on the reader page. I may have it framed for posterity! Dead chuffed.

This issue has a new list of the top 100 courses in the UK & Ireland, too. Counted up those I've played and it's 25 now. 8 out of the top 10, though. I obviously prefer quality to quantity! Should spark a bit of debate, those choices. Muirfield at No. 1 ?!

Spotted a few familiar forum names again on the reader test panel, too.

Anyone else get their copy today?

Congrats on being the star of the issue and I look forward to reading it. I thing Golf World did a similar article last month and I'm pretty sure they had Muirfield as number 1 too. Don't think I'd argue too much about htat choice. Have to say I am alway acutely jealous of you Scots as even the "everyday" courses are a joy to play and there are too many hidden gems to even list.

Got it and read your "Centurion" article John. A good effort and a decent read. Your playing of 100 courses is some effort. I have all my golfing records back to 1998 and since then I have only managed to play 24 different courses. Pre 1998 I reckon I could add on another 15 or 20 max.

Golf World gave Turnberry Ailsa the No. 1 spot. Muirfield came in 5th I think.

Will be interesting to match the two lists. (My dad gets GW!)

True Homer, but it's always either blowing a Force 10 gale, p***ing down or both up here which tends to distract from the Mother Country's golfing charms.

But you Scots are a hardy breed and with all that good golf on offer I'd happily be out there in all weathers.....

Homer, don't be fooled. SS2, DCB, TOMO and myself legged it on Friday as it was too wet and windy.

We are full of bravado m8.

Mind you I spent quite a while in the bunkers so I did get a bit of shelter and we did go out later for a, one club, six ball sixsome.

John, I'll need to go get a copy.

Just read your article, which was a really good read.

And real pleased for you reaching your goal.

Your a lucky guy to have played some of the best courses we have on our little island. And of course being published in the best golf mag around.

Well done again.

J_F...Would love to read the article but I think the posties have goofed of today(unless one of our lots members(who is a postie(has purloined my copy for a quick perusal and may drop it in thro' the door tomorrow!!
Anyway congrats on what I'm sure will be an honest appraisal!
Good on you........oh,to be in you're shoes!! :p

Great stuff JF!!

Got me thinking I aint ever thought on numbers so tonite jotted them down loosely and I am at over 120 in GB&I and reckon Europewide I could clock up 150,might get them seriously listed and get a drumroll prepared for course number 200......Augusta maybe...sure if I wrote them a letter they would give me courtesy for such an achievement eh? :D ;)

It's a good plan, Dodger. I got the feeling playing with IM02 on Friday that you would have played a few. You need a map like I had, mate! It's the only way to be sure.

I reckon you'd have to know someone at Augusta pretty well, even to play it as course number 200! I'm on 105 now so it'll be a wee while before I reach that landmark. I'll think about which course in another 10 years maybe.

Your shattering illusions down here in London with such talk M!
;)

Your gonna tell me you gents don't play in the wind next!(We had some of it on Saturday and as I watched my nth tee shot balloon up I thought, ' Big M and the GM Scots. would laugh at that for a wind- pull your finger out')

Well done on your article JF - I dropped the ball on my subs. by two weeks so may miss that one (now sorted) - apologies. 100 courses - that's some going.

Well done J_F..Too modest to mention this fact when we played on Friday, not that it was the weather for great conversation.

Will look out for the"Top 100 Courses played by J_F" in a future edition.
