Dd we forget to take any strikers to france...?

Strikers need service, something that Vardy and Sturridge did not get tonight. Half chances and scrambles at best.

Just posted in the other thread..
64 goal attempts in 3 games for 3 goals....

Plenty of shots just little quality finishing

Didn't you see how many "Shots" were blocked by Slovakia tonight?

Don't think I've ever seen so many goal bound strikes that were blocked by them.

Don't see the point of another thread, why not just ask the question in the Euros thread?

Too slow once we get around the box and too little movement. That's why the best sides (Germany, Italy, Spain etc) can still undo sides that camp on the edge of their own box. We're too slow and ponderous

Yeah, not quite precise enough in the close quarters stuff.
And we always seem to have a few players whose second touch is often a tackle.

I watched it lasy night with my 9yo son, kept saying to him there was a lack of movement from the forward players, a lot of standing waiting, yes Slovakia parked the bus BUT England have to drag the defence around more to make space through players making dummy runs to create space for others and keep the defenders moving, England were dominant in possession but didn't do too much with it in the final third imo.
For me Vardy can't play in a team thats not counter attacking like last night, going forward he'll be fine as when the better teams play England he will be able to counter attack using his speed.
For games like last night you need someone like Andy Carroll or Peter Crouch coming off the bench imo - a big target man who can disrupt and head well, who will compete with Skirtel types and provide scraps for other strikers to feed off.
Maddening with 30 seconds left they didn't go route 1, instead passing it back. Screaming at tv "get it in the box"!
From a little past half time it had 0-0 written all over it, Hodgson for me ain't good enough a tactician and I'm a neutral so impartially analysed.;)
ps still think England will make semis.

This was my frustration
We seemed so slow. We should use our ability to pass at pace, not at snails pace.
In fact more frustrating was glen Hoddle et al saying "we had so much possession" . So what - they were happy to let us have it.

Blocked shots don't count. I could play and have my shots blocked. Top quality premier league players should not get so many shots blocked. And as the commentator said last night, a goal kick that goes through to the other goalkeeper counts as a **** in goal! :)

Not saying I know it all. Just immensely frustrating how slow and boring we were and didn't seem to want to change our plan at any point, just hoping that our slow rocky tacky passing would qualify us for a goal :(

Difficult to say.
At this point in his career it's all potential ............................. but that's something he's got in spades!!
They said the same about Federico Macheda and Adnun Januzaj..............................................early days.:p
