David Miliband

He was my local MP & I met him when I took his photograph. I also spent 1½ hours in Ed's company. David came across as genuine, pleasant & charming. Ed exuded evil, I didn't like him at all. Had Ed done the sensible & unselfish thing of standing aside & letting his brother win the Labour leadership there is no doubt that we would now have a Labour government, elected by a landslide.

A credible, middle ground, party would grab fistfulls of votes from all three major parties.

If it's in the Grauniad then it must be definitely going to happen. And they can take that idiot Heseltine who thinks we'll join the Euro with them too.

You mean if the party had done the sensible thing and voted for David. But they didn't and we don't have a Labour government. Thank God.
Then they did it again and elected Corbyn.
We should also remember that the media would have rounded on David just like they do with all leading politicians and he would have made mistakes just like they all do. So he wouldn't be seen in the same light now.

With our politics more polarised than it's been in decades as labour and tories lurch left and right respectively, I'd welcome a more centrist option. Milliband might be a decent figurehead, not sure. I don't think tony blair's involvement necessarily puts me off but anyone setting this up must realise he's still toxic at the ballot box...
