I am watching the highlights of the Tavistock Cup and David Faherty has just said that Europe's Ryder Cup team that got pumped last year played 'as good as any other European team has ever played' and still got beat by an 'inspired' American team ......

Do you think an American is paying his salary. The guy is a chuffing dumpling. And he was a duff golfer too.

I think he's pretty right to be honest.

We just got beaten by better Golf thas'all, the Yanks in this RC certainly seemed inspired to me.

I dont think Faldo was the most involved of captains, which may have had an effect ?

I for one don't think the Euro team were as good as any other team has ever played. If thats what you mean Andy?

I don't think there was any way we could have beaten the US last year with any Ryder cup team. They were pumped up but they also played some truely awesome golf and to be fair deserved their win. Much was debated on here at the time about the merits or not of Faldo's captaincy methods but at the end of the day the US played the better golf. Got a feeling with Monty in charge it will be different. Is there a golfing euphonism for the hairdryer treatment if we don't perform as Monty thinks fit.

Europe got humped well and truely due to one thing and one thing only:-

Nick Faldo!

WTF? The yanks played some of the best golf I have ever seen, they were almost unbeatable, yes Faldo's pairings on the last day could be questioned but who are we to pontificate, he knows Golf far better than any of us.

I like Feherty, and think most of the time he tells it as it is, no bull, just straight talk, good or bad. Sometimes his insight is fantastic.

There is a comment in Carl Hiaasens book Fairway to hell where Feherty steps in side the ropes and unasked or announced, asks Tiger after 4 straight bogeys, what the hell is that all about? Tiger answers that he is playing like a 12 handicap. Who else would have the brass to talk to Tiger when it is all pear shaped.

David Fahrety, can be really in your face which can make for great course interviews IMO..

Also IMO the Faldo comment is laughable, the golf the Americans played last year was immence, pairings and singles they were just in the zone. The one thing Faldo got hammered for was his pick of Poulter, who turned out to be Europes best player!

I like his on course commentary style from interviews to amusing remarks.

I would however agree he is a considerable suck up to the American powers at be. Not necessarily in this instance though.

I would think that the way the Americans played they would have been difficult to beat by any European team past or present. If it was not the golf that would have beaten them the determination , will to win and motivation would have carried them through against various high profile Ryder Cup teams.

And lets be honest, if any of us was being paid considerable sums of money by a US TV company for commentary IN the US, to the US, I would think we'd all be a little more 'biased' in some tidgy ways too......

perhaps.... ?

Faldo had 75% of his pairings wrong and dont even get me started on his Sunday singles order. From the off he was a dreadful captain.
