Hi All
This is message aimed at Jezz Ellwood at the Mag, but i am sure you all might find this interesting.

I have know Jezz for a few years, before in fact he was associated with GM. We meet through a another friend of us both David Downard, who was a business friend of my Wife.

In 1998 the three of us took on Six Sussex and Surrey Mens opens and gave ourselves "prize money" based on the position we came in the field from the prize money from that years PGA Champs at Wentworth. We called it "The Alternative Tour".

We had a great year, a dinner at the end and had some fantastic days out.

Now life took the three of us in diferent directions and we have lost touch, but it was great to meet up with Jezz again at The Belfrey at the GM day out.

And here is the really spooky thing. In this months Mag, there is a picture of me, Jezz of course, AND i believe his piece in the mag where he talks about a round of golf with "Dave" is Dave Downard. The three of us (sort of) together again.

Golf is a great game where friendships and experiences last even when you dont see people for a while.

We are lucky to have that.

Excellent November edition GM.

Alex

Go on Dave - dish the dirt - did you win the OOM and the most money! Good to see you back in touch. Funnily enough something similar happened to me last year. I played in a GM challenge match at Royal Ascot against Jezz (who blitzed round in +1 or 2 gross including 3 birdies in five holes) and we were in the mag. Lo and behold they went the following month to my old club at Wimbledon Common for the same thing and I was able to get back in touch with a number of featured members I hadn't seen in years. I'm not sure whether this is a testament to the magazine itself of the friendships the game builds that despite years of absence can be rekindled in an eighteen hole round.

Alex,
Ah, memories! Don't give too much more away though, as I've already finished a piece for the next issue that might just touch on that 'Alternative Tour'!
