Has anyone read this guys books.?
im reading short game bible at the moment its almost perfect i'd love to have the time to put into practice his findings.
Reading the distance wedges section at the mo. If i get half of the information of this chapter alone into my game then i will cut my h/cap in half!
i strongly recommend it to every one if they havent read it. If you have, im sure reading it another ten times wouldnt hurt!!

Got all his books, MVP, and, yes, they make a lot of sense. Now if only I could put any of them into practice! They have set my short game and putting back about a year simply because I was thinking about things too much. Simply rely on feel now. No swing thoughts and it's getting much better.

His books are great, but the practice routines you need to apply, plus the facilities required would mean you would have to be almost full-time!!

MVP, nope, not got to grips with the finesse swing at all. It gives way under pressure for me. Think Pelz's therories are great but I'm best when I'm not thinking about them all.

Have to say, his putting aid devices are great. Have bought quite a few from his website and the stroke is good now after a lot of practice. But putting is all about feel so best to switch off the mechanics thoughts when you're actually on the course, I think.

It seems a bit awkward the finesse swing. I can imagine it will mess up my full swing as they're similar actions so im not suer about this. I will consult my teaching pro see what his ideas are.!

Good idea, MVP. A few short game lessons helped me sort it out, too.

I found I was using too many different wedges around the green after reading the Pelz books. I had 5 different lofts in my bag at one point !! Now I usually use my 49 and 54 degree wedges almost exclusively. That has helped the feel.

I'm thinking along the same lines as JF, I read it couple of years back and ended up over-wedged, now have pw(48), 53 and 58 wedges which is plenty.
His book is made up of about half a tree it's just too much, I need a quick reference, I like Leadbetters old faults and fixes book a lot.
Pelz best advice is to keep the left arm very straight for consistent pitching, remembered that at least, can't remember a lot else to be honest.
I'd be more interested in a 'long game bible' as my short game is the best part of my golf anyway, has to be good to make up for my poor long game!

I first read his Putting Bible whilst on holiday a few years back and found some instant fixes in it. When I got to grips with all his ideas it made a big difference to my putting. At one point three seasons ago I averaged just under 29 putts a round for June - Aug when the greens were at their best. for those three months the hole was a bucket!

So..

As the putting had improved, the Short Game Bible was purchased and although a bit dry in places was again a good read with some simple things that could be put into use straight away.

As a consequence, the short game is probably the area I practise most, either at the range or out on real grass. I'm lucky in that I can go out my back gate and I have an area of short grass which is ideal for practicing my short game shots up to say 65 yds.

Over the season thats what helps the most, knowing just what swing you require to pitch or chip the ball certain distances.

Anyway, the Pelz books are money well spent as far as I'm concerned.

I admire his books greatly, the man has some wonderful and logical theories about putting and the short game.... But my God he's boring. When he's on the golf channel insomniacs the world over breath a sigh of relief knowing that a good nights sleep is less than 10 minutes away.
