Congratulations to Darren - no one could have asked for a nicer guy to win The Open. His home club is Dungannon, in Co. Tyrone, but he has designed two impressive courses in Ireland:

- Castle Dargan in Co. Sligo (www.castledargan.com) - reviewed in Golf Monthly Feb 2011

- Moyvalley (The Champion's Club) in Co. Kildare (www.moyvalleygolfclub.com)

I imagine they will get a good bounce in bookings as a result of this great win. Both clubs will no doubt be sharpening their marketing pencils, just as Lough Erne has been doing following Rory's win.

Just to let people know there is an 18 Hole Medal Open Mixed Foursomes on 27th August.

£5 entry and £20 green fees. Ok not the best format to experience the course fully but certainly hard to beat the price to play such a quality course.

At castle dargan? Used to be a member at enniscrone and a lot of people said it was quite a wet and boggy course is it still the same?

I understand that Darren Clarke is also building a new course just outside Dundee at Broughty Ferry.

The course in Scotland is 'The Angus' or so I've heard.

And yes, Lough Erne is in administration - so too is Moyvalley - it will be interesting to see how well they do now that they have the names of Major champions affiliated with them.

Whoops knew I'd forget something. It's at the Dunluce links in Portrush.

Thought anyone interested in Darren's Courses might also be interested in this.
