Danny Willet @ the BMW (spoilers!)

Yup an ave just seen him miss that putt which hit the spike mark which he could not repair. What's that all about. Stupid rule.

I once marked a card for a guy who shot a course record and that had a double on it.

In fact, he is doing rather well at Wentworth this week

Just seen his interview...

Mildly irritates meas he refers to everything 'he' does as 'we'....

Least he recognizes the team effort, and that he wouldn't be where he is without the people around him. Refreshing I'd say. However, his gobbyness is what is mildly irritating to me! Still like the guy though!

Unfortunately got into a blame game with his caddie and lost concentration for a few holes and will probably feel he lost an opportunity to go well clear.

Another day tomorrow and I'm sure he will be back on it,his front 9 was mightily impressive though.

I agree to a point......we have worked hard, we made the right decision...........but when he drifts into we hit a good shot on 6, we made a nice putt on 12 it is just cringeworthy. I think Monty is to blame, sure he started that.

Probably good he finished with a birdie, taking some positive momentum.

I followed him for a few hole today, what a bird machine, but probably due to his iron play. The bogey on 10th was unlucky and set up a bad back 9. He played the 1st into the bunker, got a master of a shot out of it, an then missed a relative easy put to go bogey, hopping of the birds train with it.

I fell back to watch Westwood a bit after that, but dropped of him before he eagled.

Casey, Spieth - seems pretty commonplace these days. I think your distinction makes some sense. We made the decision, I hit it.

Yep. The 'we' is irritating. On a number of levels.

For a start, it's gramatically incorrect. 'We' didn't hit a shot, there was only one person attached to the club that I could see....

But mainly, it denies the essential quality of golf - the struggle between an individual and the game.

There is a great article here written after the Speith/Augusta meltdown : http://ftw.usatoday.com/2016/04/jordan-spieth-the-masters-danny-willett-meltdown-lonely-sport.

For those who don't do longform, the last sentence is a fair summary :

"There is no changing golf. The sport is what it is. At a certain point, you must stand over the ball. You must calm your heart, stop your hands from shaking, and take a deep breath. You must swing the club."

It seems that whenever someone succeeds or reaches a high level in sport people look for something to knock them down - Willett says "we" because he fully understands that whilst he hits the shot it's still a team effort for him including his family , coach and caddy - without them he wouldn't be where he is so I actually like that he includes them all in any success
