damage to golf irons

guys i started paying golf in december, i bought a brand new set of ping g20 irons, i clean them regular and noticed there is a fair few marks under the sole of the clubs where i have hit stones or something some quite deep. is this normal and how long do irons last for please. Is there anything i can do to prevent this i always look to see if there are stones but dont know how its happened

Dings are battle scars. Providing they aren't on the face and potentially impacting the shot then apart from being annoying on new clubs it makes no difference and shouldn't harm the longevity of the club

Relax their implements designed for hitting things, some people still use ping eye 2s so they've got plenty of life in them yet.
