Dads Army

Like most remakes long after the originals it probably won't find favour with many who watched it first time around but may get a new generation of fans. Most of these comedies didn't transfer well to the big screen in the 70's (and most were tried) so no reason to think it will be a classic.

I saw that, and I think the cast looks really good. Film versions of tv shows never seem as good though, even with the original actors. Porridge, Dads Army, Likely Lads etc.

I agree. I remember Ant and Dec doing a remake of the Likely Lads which was toe curlingly awful. Personally I'd rather they left well alone as they can't improve the original.

The cast looks very good. I originally hated the idea of a dads army film but am slowly coming round to the idea if for no other reason that it may get a new generation watching the original classics

Thought the original episodes were garbage to be perfectly honest. Never understood what people found funny about it. Not my cup of tea at all, each to their own though. It does appear to have a decent cast, so who knows it might raise a smile.

Can't see Bill Paterson as Frazer, but the rest look pretty good.
I loved Dads Army.

My wife's grandad was Major of the Southend home guard. We have a great picture of him and about 200 men at quarter dress.
In real life they were well trained and drilled. Each group had 'death squads' who were given virtually suicidal missions if the Nazi's had invaded.

I always reckoned you could get a decent cast for dad's army from a few fellas on here;:D

Socket as mainwaring

Doon as Fraser

Smiffy as walker

And foxy as the air raid warden whose name I forget:rofl:
